Too strong or just right? Matt Rhule's staff won't recruit IMG in Florida

The controversy around top high school football players in Texas leaving for a program like IMG Academy in Florida has been a heavily debated topic for the last several recruiting classes.

On Tuesday, new Baylor head coach Matt Rhule expressed his feelings about the situation by making a strong statement to the coaches in Texas at the Texas High School Coaches Association convention.

According to Rhule, his staff will not recruit the IMG program who has continually pulled many of the top prospects in the state away from home for their final years of high school.

In one instance directly related to Baylor, 2017 four-star quarterback Kellen Mond and four-star wide receiver Jhamon Ausbon left their high schools in San Antonio and Houston to attend the program on the East Coast. Both prospects were committed to the Bears, and though other circumstances played a heavy role into their de-commitment, the program in Waco looked to be behind the eight ball from the start.

David Wetzel, Mond's coach at San Antonio Reagan at the time, is now part of Rhule's staff in Waco.

The move is a bold one for Rhule, but the impact is unlikely to be greatly felt for the Bears as there has been little success for Baylor at schools similar to IMG in the past.

Over a thousand HS head coaches in Texas are standing and saluting CMR.

We "gave up" a school we dont really pay a lot of attention to for a lot of happy Texans
