STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 20 Baylor Softball falls in extra innings against the No. 2 ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls, 6-5, Friday night at Cowgirl Stadium.

The Bears, now 23-6 on the season, pushed OSU to 11 innings, the Bears first 11 inning game since 2014.

The Bears’ offense was hot, totaling 10 hits in the matchup and holding one of the best offenses in the country to eight scoreless innings.

THE RUNDOWN

The Bears scored all five of their runs in the second inning when Emily Hott walked, Sydney Collazos singled and Ana Watson walked to load the bases. Presleigh Pilon brought home the first run after she grounded out to second base. Another groundout to give the Bears two outs but they weren’t done yet.

Leading the two-out rally, Taylor Strain singled to the shortstop to make it a 2-0 game before McKenzie Wilson was hit by a pitch to load the bases again. Amber Toven singled to right field which brough home the Bears third run, before Shaylon Govan hit a two-RBI single through the left side.

With a 5-0 lead, Oklahoma State cut into the Bears lead after an error, timely hits and a couple of walked batters put the Cowgirls within one run.

The Bears seemingly scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning when Govan doubled, but after an official review Kaci West was called out for not touching third base and both of the Bears runs from the inning were erased.

OSU tacked on a run on the fifth to tie up the game at 5-5 and then both teams went scoreless for the next six innings.

The Cowgirls capitalized after loading the bases in the bottom of the 11th and went on to win on a walk-off single to left field.

HIGHLIGHTS

Sydney Collazos continued her hot hitting streak, going 3-for-5 at the plate with three singles.

Six Bears combined for 10 hits, with Collazos, Shaylon Govan and Taylor Strain each recording multi-hit outings.

The Bears were awarded six walks in the matchup with Ana Watson leading the way with three.

In the circle, Dariana Orme started and pitched 2.2 innings, not allowing an earned run and striking out two. RyLee Crandall, who received the loss, pitched 8.0 strong innings and struck out three, while holding the Cowgirls to six scoreless innings.

Lasting over four hours, this was the Bears longest game of the season.

This game marked the third time this year the Bears have gone into extra innings and the first time since 2014 that the Bears went to 11 innings.
