WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s basketball will host a charity exhibition game against University of Houston at noon CT Saturday at the Ferrell Center. All ticket sales will be donated to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund through the Greater Houston Community Foundation.

Tickets are available for $5 online at https://baylorbea.rs/2ghyGvB and at the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office inside the Ferrell Center on Saturday. Students can purchase tickets for $1 at the door with valid student ID. All tickets are general admission, and doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Baylor and U of H received an NCAA waiver to play the additional exhibition game. The Bears and Cougars will play a regulation 40-minute game with some rules modified in the spirit of an exhibition.

“This is an incredible opportunity to use the game of basketball to provide relief for our neighbors in need,” Baylor head coach Scott Drew said. “We’re thankful to be able to play this game on Homecoming weekend with so many members of the Baylor Family back home, and we encourage everyone to pack the Ferrell Center to raise as much money as possible in support of the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.”

Limited concessions will be available. Parking at the Ferrell Center is free, but vehicles must be removed from the lot by 3 p.m. due to the 7 p.m. football game at McLane Stadium. Only vehicles with FC football parking passes can remain in the lot after 3 p.m.

Yea budddy! Pretty dang rare to see two good teams in an exhibition.

Don't think ol Scotty ever beat Sampson at OU. Hope the boys put a fake walloping on them.

Baylor did scrimmage Houston a couple of years back and outscored them like 94-60 or something like that so Sampson may have a taste for the other side of the equation now.

After some scouting, I think this is a good Houston team. Sampson thinks it is his best yet. Their guards are experienced and skilled. They hit the jucos hard (5 new players). This will be a challenge.

Maybe the first meaningful exhibition game ever.

We lost 71-68. They said Manu was leading scorer for us with 17 points and 10 assists. Some dude from UH lit us up for 26.

I came to see if a final score on here and how we played. Wish I could have been there

Crowd was solid and risers were pulled back. Reinforced how cool a smaller venue that is built for basketball would be.

On the UH site they report the final score as 81-78; doesn't really matter, an L is an L.

If you want to call it one. Our record after the "L" is 0-0.

we looked fine. Lecomte didn't have the best floor game- 10 assists but 6 turnovers. A lot of those turnovers led to easy buckets for UH. We turned it over 22 times overall. UH like most Kelvin Sampson teams puts a lot of pressure on the perimeter and he has the guards to do it. He went heavy juco to go with his 3 returning starters.

Gray is one of the best guards in college basketball. Averaged 20 ppg last year and went for 25 yesterday. No Tristan Clark he was banged up. We played 7 guys and they played 10+. That showed on defense down the stretch.

We need McClure, Lindsey and Omot to be more assertive on offense mainly King and Nuni. They have to score. Vital is going to be another Quincy Acy. Love his defense, effort and a very good interior passer just needs to improve decision making.

I think this is an ncaa tourney team if we can stay healthy and get Jolly back. UH may be an ncaa team as well. Sampson said it his best team at UH. He has athletes. It wouldn't surprise me to see them in top 3 of AAC.

I didn't realize that about the no fouling out until late in the game. Couldn't figure out the strategies for a while. UH had a guy with 3 fouls 10 minutes into the game and he didn't come out and Sampson didn't seem to care. Then Jo got his 3rd right before half time and stayed in. Even I finally figured out something was up when Jo got his 6th, 7th, and 8th foul. Definitely changes the game dynamics though. You can play really aggressive without worrying about fouling out, and you don't have to sub for a guy that picks up a couple of quick fouls.

Gray definitely is a player. I was impressed, but he seems like one of those players you love to hate. Scowling and complaining a lot. It was nice to see Manu shooting really well. Vital really looks good attacking the basket on drives. He seemed to have a really quick first step to the bucket to get around his defender. The Quincy Acy comparison is good, although he seems undersized for that role. Several of the guys had nice hard drives to the bucket for scores. (Mark, Jake, and King come to mind.) Jo had a couple of impressive blocks running the court and he looked much more confident and smooth at the foul line. If he becomes a respectable foul shooter, that would be big.

Practice has just started so I'm not worried yet, but turnovers really killed us. On defense, we had several times that we gave them 3 point looks with no one within 10 feet of the shooter. I think we may struggle against big teams. Jo has some skills but doesn't have any bulk. We're playing Nuni in Motley's spot and Lindsey in Wainright's. Both are good players, but neither is as big and physical as the guys they're stepping in for.

Thanks. I sure hope we can get TOs under control. Did Maston look ready to be a consistent star for us?

On Maston, great on offense and poor on defense. Never going to be a great defender but need him to be serviceable in that area.
