MANHATTAN, Kansas – Baylor (13-12, 3-9) travels to Kansas State (10-15, 1-11) on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. CT, at Bramlage Coliseum, as the Wildcats will be playing their first game since parting ways with head coach Jerome Tang. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

They aren't, but Drew's coaching all season has been hilariously bad. It's also clear he's lost his touch at identifying talent. Baylor gave Rataj over a million bucks to do and nothing for 30 games

And you're 100% right. Someone on X said it well, ironically losing Tang was the killer. Drew is great at politicking and managing the program, but Tang is the one who got on their butts and motivated (again, ironically as we've seen). We should be better than this.

What's funny is Iowa has complained at people like me for years calling out some of the awful decisions and defending terrible players Drew has recruited that resulted in us being in this situation. But now he's overreacting the other direction.

The question has to be asked though, is Drew about to retire? This feels like how Bennett went out…

If we don't get better at talent evaluation in the new era of college basketball, it doesn't matter what kind of X's and O's coaches we have. The concerning part is that neither Drew nor Tang has exhibited strong skills in assembling a roster under the transition of to NIL models. I don't know whether that is on GMs or coaching staffs or both, but even with Tang this doesn't suddenly turn into 2019- 2020-2021 (when we held the secret of redshirting at that time) unless the talent evaluation piece gets fixed.

We've recruited like trash for years, the only difference is we ran out of good players and finally got stuck with a full team of garbage. Guys like Nunn would fit perfectly on this team.

I don't think there's much different about Drew right now compared to 3 years ago. The recruiting has been horrible. The in game coaching is mid. I think the difference is we've got horrible assistants who don't bring much to the table. We're missing guys like Jakus.

It's actually on par with how we've played for a few weeks now. We fall behind early in the 2nd half by double digits, battle back from 12 minute to 6 minute mark, then don't have enough time to finish off the comeback.

Our defense is ****ing atrocious. Our effort and execution on that end of the floor is embarrassing.

The lack of program standard is jarring when you watch any of the good teams in our league play. The demands being made by the Big 12's best coaches are night and day compared to our own.

When you shoot under 40% and the other team shoots over 50% you are going to lose.

These players suck.

Drew did choose them but we have limited knowledge on what he was working with.

McNamee needs to have a come to Jesus meeting with his basketball coach and make it clear in no uncertain terms that this current product is absolutely unacceptable.

If this is the quality we can expect from a Scott Drew-coached team going forward, he needs to move the hell on so we can do the same.

It's one thing to lose by double digits to Arizona, Tech or Houston.

It's a whole other world to lose by double digits to a 1-11 team tied for last place team who fired their coach 2 days ago.

Allowing this K-State team to shoot over 50 percent is the problem.

This K-State team is freaking awful. They came in ranked 101st in KenPom with the 95th ranked offense and 136th ranked defense. And they just made us their ***** without a head coach.

The excuses need to stop. It starts at the top, and Drew isn't getting it done currently. A strong argument can be made that he's a bad head coach in 2026.

Don't think I've ever seen a long standing coach like Drew that just continually gets drilled by former assistants in his coaching tree over and over again.
