Player of the Week:

Carlee Wallace

Carlee is a transfer from Auburn and may seem like an odd selection for Player of the Week because her stats over the weekend were not the best. But in the games when the team needed her the most she stepped up in a big way. Against Southern Mississippi she got on base all 3 at-bats(2H,1BB) and in the finale against her arch-rival Alabama she drove in the only two runs Baylor scored in the game. For her to step up in the big games like that earned her the Player of the Week this weekend. 

Pitcher of the Week:

Gia Rodoni

Rodoni earned 2 wins in 2 starts against McNeese State and Alabama while also making a relief appearance versus Southern Mississippi in the Black and Gold Invitational. She pitched in a total of 17.0 innings over the weekend while only giving up 8 hits and 2 earned runs, she also struck out 21. Gia is now 3-0 on the year and she is going to be used a ton as the season goes on whether she is starting or coming out of the bullpen. She has proven that she is the ace of the pitching staff.

Key Notes

-   This was a big weekend for the Lady Bears defeating two ranked teams including the #9-ranked Crimson Tide. All-Time series 1-4 vs. Alabama.

-  BU has started 7-0 and is off to the programs best start since 2015 when they started 9-0.

-  Carlee Wallace is now 5-3 vs. Alabama in her career. (4-3 at Auburn, 1-0 at Baylor)

-  Shelbey Friudenberg is in sole possession of No. 3 on BU’s career RBI leaderboard. 

-  Baylor went 10-6 last year against ranked teams are now 2-0 versus top 25 teams to start this season.

Baylor plays UTSA in San Antonio at 5:30 p.m. on February 20th before hosting the Baylor Invitational this weekend.
