Lady Bears win Big 12 Tournament Championship
Even with the absence of senior guard Kristy Wallace's from the lineup, Kim Mulkey's Lady Bears (31-1) finished off the Big 12 season with a tournament championship in Oklahoma City, defeating the Texas Longhorns for the third time on the season.
It was guard Alex Morris who stepped in for Wallace to lead Baylor in the backcourt against the Longhorns. The freshman, who chipped in 19 points, was one of four to score in double figures in the contest joining Kalani Brown (20), Lauren Cox (13) and Juicy Landrum (11).
Brown added 8 rebounds while Cox added 12 rebounds and 7 blocked shots.
Senior Dekeiya Cohen narrowly missed a double-double, scoring 8 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Brown was named the Most Outstanding Player for the tournament while Morris and Cox were named to the All-Tournament team.
Baylor's tournament victory was their eighth in last nine years.
