WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball cruised to an 18-1 run-rule win in seven innings over Prairie View A&M on Tuesday evening at Baylor Ballpark. The Bears (27-17) scored four runs in three of the first four innings to put away the Panthers (13-34).

BU started the game with four runs in the first on a Richard Cunningham two-run home run and Cole Haring two-run triple. In the second, the Bears added four more on a Nick Loftin RBI double, Davis Wendzel RBI single, Andy Thomas RBI single and Davion Downey sacrifice fly.

After getting a run on an error and T.J. Raguse groundout in the third, Baylor scored four again in the fourth on a Josh Bissonette grand slam. In the fifth, three more runs scored on a Wendzel triple, Downey error and Bissonette groundout.

Following a PVAMU run in the sixth, BU scored runs on a Thomas sacrifice fly and Shea Langeliers RBI double.

BU starter Tyler Thomas (2-2) earned the win, allowing three hits and four walks with five strikeouts in four shutout innings. PVAMU starter Kaelon Woods (3-2) took the loss, giving up 13 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

“We had an early practice today just to try and get the guys out and moving [after their week off due to final exams]. They have been studying and I just wanted to get them out here and get them out of bed, moving them around, kind of start focusing on things and start doing a little bit of practice to kind of remind them about a few things. We took some batting practice and they were in good spirits obviously and feeling really good. I am really happy with some of their approaches and some of the things they did tonight.” – Baylor Head Coach Steve Rodriguez

The Bears continue their five-game home stand with a 6:35 p.m. game Wednesday vs. Prairie View A&M and three-game weekend series vs. No. 20 Oklahoma State.
