Baylor Softball Earns Four All-Big 12 Selections

May 9, 2018

WACO, Texas – Baylor softball saw four All-Big 12 first team selections among the 2018 All-Big 12 Softball Postseason Awards, announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Gia Rodoni, Goose McGlaun, Jessie Scroggins, and Kyla Walker stacked up BU’s first team honorees, second only to OU’s five first teamers and holding as the only two programs with multiple selections to the conference’s first team rankings.

Baylor has now had four first team selections for three-straight years and has had at least two for five consecutive seasons.

Rodoni has taken full control of the club ace role, going 21-9 on the year with a 2.04 ERA and Big 12-leading 237 strikeouts on the season.

Goose McGlaun has seen a significant sophomore bump in her offensive production, hitting .333 with a team-leading 14 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Jessie Scroggins has been among the top hitters in the country throughout the season, batting .458 with Big 12-best 76 hits and 18 stolen bases.

Kyla Walker tops both the squad and the conference with a .461 average, taking over the top spot after returning from a midseason injury to come back stronger than ever.

Walker (6th) and Scroggins (t-8th) gives the Lady Bears two hitters within the Top 10 individual batting averages in the country this season, the only program in the country to have multiple student-athletes check in among the Top 15.

Rodoni picked up her first All-Big 12 selection in 2017 as a second-team honoree, bumping up to the first team this season.

McGlaun was a member of the Big 12 All-Freshman team in 2017, but her 2018 first team selection is the first of her career.

Scroggins and Walker both repeat first team selections, the second-straight for Scroggins and the third-straight for Walker.

Walker will have a chance as a senior to join Whitney Canion as the only two Lady Bears to earn first team honors four times, with Canion’s awards coming in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2014. Walker would be the first to accomplish the feat over four consecutive seasons.
