This is good stuff. I generally go and watch them practice 2 or 3 times before the season starts. It's fun to see who's who and what's what.

We are expanding our coverage into WBB as far as Coach Mulkey will allow us.

Honesty looks good but has a leg brace

So does bickle

Noticed that, too. Expected it with Bickle, but was surprised by Honesty's. Could be precautionary until the correct muscles for cutting and lateral movement get built up.

Trust will have to be built up between the Sic'em staff and Mulkey, but I know the WBB program is trying to expand its fan base (what program isn't...?) and up their season ticket sales. Surely any positive exposure has to help promote that. This could be the start of a beautiful (symbiotic) relationship!

Thanks staff, for this addition! ALL athletes at Baylor wear the green and gold (or yellow or highlighter yellow or....)

Thanks for this video. It's something many of us will never witness in person. It shows the real gruel of a practice and what these ladies must do to be a great Lady Bear. What a different touch. I Like It !!

Something that most may not realize is the Lady Bear practice is 3 1/2 hours long. Not much of that time is spent.....walking!

What a treat to watch this video.
Love DiDi and Chloe's defensive tenacity; they will earn minutes for it.
Love Lauren's competitiveness and demand for excellence; she'll have a strong leadership presence on this team.
Impressed by Caitlin's assertiveness and moxie; she doesn't look like a Freshman who hasn't played in a year, she looks like she belongs.
Wow, does NaLyssa have a great basketball body; size, athleticism, length. Amazing potential.
Aquira has tremendous explosiveness, quick first step; once she understands the flow of offense and where to find driving lanes, she'll be a beast.
Encouraging to see that Moon, Honesty, and Aquira all hit 3 point shots. Is it possible that they all have the ability to stretch the floor and hit the 3 with consistency? We know we have an elite 3 point shooter in Juicy, but we need at least a couple of additional threats. Perhaps Chloe and Caitlin? Who can hit contested 3 pointers at a 35% or better rate in games?
What a gift for Queen to be able to practice with and against Kalani and Lauren every day; she'll have incredible growth this year,
Didn't see Trinity; any reason for concern?
Chloe seems to have the mature confidence and game awareness you'd hope from a 5th year Senior, even though she's dealing with new team and new position; thrilled to have her here, shame we didn't get to watch her evolve over 4 years.
If I was attending Baylor today (instead of the mid 80's) I'd probably tryout to be one of the practice squad guys; what a cool experience for them.

The LSU grad transfer, Chloe Jackson, is going to be really good. Plays so hard reminds me of Kristy Wallace a little with how hard she plays. She also averaged 18 points a game at LSU

Unfortunately I was covering men's basketball today because this was their first practice we could film. Also I don't think the open practice allowed cameras so couldn't have gotten any video anyways. Would have been nice to get some notes though.

LOL! By the looks of the last 30 secs of the video, the freshmen (with LC and Moon) took that scrimmage and made the first team do a couple laps!

Appreciate all you're doing and respect that there are multiple programs to cover. I know there are some die hard Lady Bear fans on here who regularly attend practice. Just thought someone might have attended and shared a thought or two. We were going to try to attend but the other ChiBears2 had to work....sheesh (who cares if it's quarter close? Priorities, I say! )

Anyway, thanks for coverage and keep up the good work!

Will echo some comments above...

I noticed HCKM's comments about DeCosta shooting the 3, then I watched the video. Had no idea the DeCosta could consistently shoot from that range. This will be very interesting as the season progresses.

Didi's competitive fire is impressive and her length on the defensive end causes all kinds of issues for the other team. Would love for her to continue to improve her shooting, but there will be plenty of minutes for her at the 3 and 4 (if the other team goes small). She seems to be in better shape than last year, has put in good weight, and she seems more explosive.

Bickle is a straight-up gym rat. I hope she stays injury free and allows that knee to continue to strengthen. Definitely will play the 3 and 4.

Honesty was getting a crash course in defensive intensity by Jackson. It will take her a while to get up to the conditioning necessary to play extended minutes at this level. Love the 3-pointer that she had towards the end of the video after what was a tough practice for her.

Moon seems much more comfortable and able to use her superior athleticism more effectively.

The depth on this team is impressive. I hope the freshmen develop to the point where we can continue to keep fresh bodies out there, giving the freshmen 10-12 minutes per game on average. That's going to pay dividends for LC and KB in March.

Lol! Yes they did. And in the beginning they ran the full court drill strongly with ease.
DeCosta was relentless with the 3 point shot
Cox was very vocal and encouraged the girls
Moon looked confident and determined
Scott-Grayson looks great even with the brace on, managed drills and the win maturely with ease no matter the pressure being put on her. She has a nice shot.
Bickle reminds me a lot of Cox, very vocal and confident
Smith has a big college ready body, she's going to be great

.
Just some back ground on DeCosta's history in respect to shooting three's. She seldom if ever shot them in high school or AAU. Too many excellent 3pt shooters on her team. She only really began to work on her shot during her Jr and Sr seasons. Even then she seldom shot them. During the 3x3 worlds she hit the few she shot. She appeared to have a good practice hitting 5 of 7. We don't really have a history to gage her ability in that respect. The ones that impressed me were the ones she created off the dribble against Didi. At the 18 m and 20 m marks. She really displayed her handles on those running her defender into Cox for picks and screens. She did get too fancy at 22m when Didi stripped her.

As for Didi I could see her on the floor even with taller lineups. She could play the two with DeCosta at three or four on defense and switch roles on offense. I could see DeCosta ( with more experience) playing the off guard position in the future. She has the quickness and the ball skills. She is more effective in space off the dribble. She just needs more of the consistency that comes with experience. She did finish third in the World 3x3 skills competitions that is usually dominated by PG's. The USA team had two guards but they picked DeCosta to represent them. I believe her future at the next level will be as a guard.

One other aspect concerning DeCosta. In high school and the AAU team she played on they ran little man to man defense. They basically ran a zone trap press. So her comfort level in respect to dealing with picks and screens on parameter defensive assignments is still a work in progress.

High hopes for DeCosta.

She reminds me of Seimone Augustus from LSU/Lynx.

She can create her shot and is deceptive

Thank Grayson by having friends subscribe.

We can't wait to get a couple of the WBB coaches to the studio like we did with the men's tennis coach and volleyball coach.

One of the biggest discussions among my Baylor WBB fan friends is non-conference scheduling. My understanding is that Johnny Derrick coordinates this effort. Although technically Johnny (Assistant AD / Operations) is not a coach, we would like to see Johnny interviewed to answer specific opponent questions.

Excellent summary, willtalk.

I watched four or five of DaCosta's games last season and she only took one shot from the arc. She had a couple of college prospects playing with her at Stockton (Florida and Princeton) and they both liked to hoist it up from three. Aquira played the high post and did most of her scoring around the basket and in transition. I thought that her coach misused her, and it caught up with them against good teams. She had trouble getting into any kind of rhythm with that team, but was a team player.

I thought that she needed a lot of work at the defensive end because of the way her team played at that end of the floor, but she is clearly a major talent and should develop into a first rate player at Baylor.

NaLyssa and Queen should be very helpful to this team this year. I don't know how many minutes that Grayson and Bickle will be able to get once the Lady Bears engage the better teams on their schedule, but Mulkey will try to manage the minutes as best she can against lesser competition so that those players can get a sense of what they need to work on. Both should be real assets in time, but they may have to wait their turn.

Watching this video converted me from a "lurker" into a paying customer. Please keep up the good work and bring us all the videos that I could never see without your help. Thanks for a job well done.

As many have commented, I too was impressed by the three point shooting of the team. When the defense starts saging down and double teaming our Bigs this year maybe we will be able to punish them severely. That would be great if that happens.
Moon, DeCosta, Honesty, and Bickle can all hit the 3 pointers. Oh and don't forget LC. She hit some good ones last year from the top of the circle too.

I was able to watch practice for the last 2 days and it looks like coach is experimenting a lot. As long as she has Brown and Cox, she will be just fine.

Smith looks to be fitting in just fine and she has her running a lot with both Brown and Cox, so I think she will be the one to sub the bigs this year.

I've been to see Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma practice and I am really liking what I'm seeing with these schools.
