The Lady Bears welcome the Lady Raiders to Waco on Saturday February 2 for a game at 1 p.m. The Lady Bears defeated Texas Tech in Lubbock 73-56 with several points being scored late by the Lady Raiders.

How's that for a bounce back from Okla. St.!! Our freshmen class got a chance to show their stuff this afternoon and the future is BRIGHT!

NyLissa, DeCosta, Scott-Grayson, Egbo, Bickle all had great games!
And how about that Ursin !! She filled in admirably and would have had a seson high game if she had more playing minutes.

You think Kim had a talk with the girls after last Wednesday's game?

You have to look at it in the context of who our opponent was, but that was a very impressive showing by the young ones. They held down the fort and extended the lead in their 15 minutes in the spotlight. Very encouraging going forward. Decosta and Scott-Grayson may have earned themselves some time in the more competitive games.

And the lead kept increasing when our feshmen played. Our freshmen could have won today by themselves.

Remember the Tech game in Lubbock in January, Mulkey was upset that the reserves allowed Tech to eat into the lead in the last few minutes. She used it as a teaching moment, and today it seemed that they all competed hard through the last minute.
Also found it interesting that Tech played most of their starters all the way through the 4th quarter of a blowout game. Odd choice, but I was pleased, because it meant our Freshmen played against experienced players in real game conditions. Valuable.

I agree. She showed some moves today that were extremely athletic. She clearly showed today why she was the #3 overall and #1 wing in thhe country last year.
If she continues to get playing time and learn the system, and do what Kim expects, she is going to be a very outstanding player for us in the near future.

While she was projected at the wing in college, we need to remember that this is her first year of actually playing the wing position. She didn't in either high school or AAU. She is transitioning from the post. Add her early injury that hindered her development and that sort of transition should add time to a normal freshman adjustment period.

Awesome day at the Ferrell Center! Both Baylor MBB and WBB were rocking!

The Lady Bears continue to step it up. Awesome boxscore showing contributions by all players available. Particularly Moon and DeCosta seem to be playing with more confidence. I had hoped to see Bickle get a couple of outside shot looks. She'll have a valuable role over the next couple of years in spreading the floor if she can knock them down consistently. All in all, we got a great glimpse of what we can expect going forward, and the sky is the limit. The bench will certainly tighten for most upcoming games but both coaches and players came away today with added confidence after today's game and I would expect additional minutes will be rewarded in the right situations.
