Baylor (16-9; 7-5) drops a game in Lubbock to a hot shooting Texas Tech team (21-5; 9-4) 86-61.  The Bears were without senior starters King McClure and Makai Mason.

Positives
  • no apparent further injuries.  The Bears were overmatched without four of their five most experienced players (Lindsey, Mason, McClure, Clark) on the road against a good team.
  • Jared Butler and Mario Kegler were efficient offensively outside of Butler’s 7 turnovers.  Butler scored 16 and Kegler chipped in 15.  Kegler hit his first three 3 point shots which was good to see.
  • Continued competitiveness and fight despite being undermanned.
Needs Work
  • Baylor has been solid against ball pressure when Butler and Mason play together.  And not so much when they don’t.  Butler and Bandoo turned it over 11 times today and Flo/Freddie added another 4.  Can’t win games like that.
  • Defense was not up to par today in Lubbock.  Gave up 1.30 points per possession to an offensively challenged Texas Tech squad.
  • Not fouling from the zone.  Apparently Baylor despite playing zone does not do a good job of avoiding fouls at least in the officials’ eyes.
