Baylor Men’s Golf Tied for Second at All-American

HUMBLE, Texas – Baylor men’s golf is tied for second place at 2-over-par 578 with one round to play at the All-American Intercollegiate. The Bears shot 6-over 294 in Monday’s second round and are five shots back of the lead entering the final round.

No. 37 Baylor (+2) trails only Sam Houston State (-3). The Bears are tied with Houston (+2) and lead No. 34 South Carolina (+6), Charlotte (+6), No. 49 Ole Miss (+7), UTSA (+11), Rice (+15), North Texas (+21), McNeese State (+22), Louisiana-Lafayette (+23), Lamar (+26), UT Arlington (+28) and New Mexico State (+28).

Baylor’s best second-round score came from Braden Bailey, who shot even-par 72 to move into a tie for 22nd place in the 84-player field at 3-over 147. Mark Reppe shot 1-over 73 and is tied for fourth place at 3-under 141, three shots back of the individual lead. Cooper Dossey shot 2-under on the back-9 to post a 2-over 74 and move into a tie for 22nd place at 3-over 147, while Garrett May carded Baylor’s final counting score with a 3-over 75 to tie for 22nd place at 3-over 147.

Colin Kober shot 5-over 77 and is tied for 31st place, while Ryan Grider, who is competing as an individual, shot even-par 72 to move into a tie for 12th place at 1-over 145. Austin Cotton, who is also competing as an individual, is tied for 77th place at 15-over 159 after shooting 7-over 79.

HIGHLIGHTS

Baylor ranks second in the 14-team field in par-4 scoring at 8-over 4.08, third in par-5 scoring at 9-under 4.78 and eighth in par-3 scoring at 11-over 3.28.

Baylor’s 35 birdies lead the field through two rounds, while the Bears ranks ninth with 108 pars.

Reppe is tied for third in par-4 scoring at 3-under 3.85, while Kober is tied for 10th at even-par 4.00.

May and Grider are tied for third in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.50.

Reppe is tied for the tournament lead with 10 birdies across 36 holes, while Bailey is tied for sixth with eight birdies.

STAT OF THE DAY
2-under – Baylor shot 2-under on the back-9 in the second round after taking the turn at 8-over. Dossey made three birdies on his way to a 2-under score in the back-9, while Bailey carded 1-under, Reppe shot even-par and May shot 1-over.
