WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s golf was awarded the No. 8 seed at the NCAA East Lansing (Mich.) Regional during the 2019 NCAA Women’s Golf Selection Show on Golf Channel Wednesday afternoon. The three-day tournament will be played May 6-8 at Forest Akers West Golf Course.

The Bears will make their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in eight seasons under head coach Jay Goble. This marks the 17th NCAA Regional berth in program history, all of which have been since 2000.

It will be Baylor’s third NCAA Regional appearance in the state of Michigan. BU previously competed at Forest Akers West in the 2002 NCAA Central Regional, placing 10th, and the Bears finished in 14th place at Michigan Golf Club in Ann Arbor, Mich., in the 2007 NCAA Central Regional, which was the Bears’ most recent tournament in Michigan.

Baylor has advanced through Regionals to the NCAA Championship in each of its last three postseason appearances in 2015, 2017 and 2018, and the Bears recorded top-10 national finishes in each of those three NCAA Championship appearances. Baylor advanced to match play and finished as national runner-up in 2015 at The Concession, the Bears again advanced to match play and finished tied for fifth place in 2017 at Rich Harvest Farms, and BU fell in a playoff for the final match play berth on its way to a tie for eighth place in the 2018 NCAA Championship at Karsten Creek.

Michigan State hosts the 54-hole tournament on the par-72, 6,387-yard course at Forest Akers West. The top six teams at each of the four regional sites advance to the 2019 NCAA Championship at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. Additional NCAA Regionals will be played on the same dates in Cle Elum, Wash., Norman, Okla. and Opelika, Ala.

The East Lansing Regional features an 18-team field – No. 1 seed Stanford, No. 2 Arizona, No. 3 Kent State, No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Michigan State, No. 6 Campbell, No. 7 Illinois, No. 8 Baylor, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 10 Georgia, No. 11 Louisville, No. 12 Augusta, No. 13 LSU, No. 14 Indiana, No. 15 Long Beach State, No. 16 Xavier, No. 17 Harvard and No. 18 IUPUI.
