WACO, Texas – Baylor track & field heads to the National Relay Championships Friday and Saturday at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark., in the final tune-up before the Big 12 Championships.

“It’s another great meet,” head coach Todd Harbour said. “It’s the second year for this meet. I think it’s a great concept, being able to run some relays as well as getting some open events done. I’m looking forward to it, coming off a really good showing this past weekend at Michael Johnson. We’re hoping to continue to build upon that success, continue to improve and stay healthy, and try to get ourselves set up to finish this stretch down to Big 12s and NCAAs. We’re coming to the finish line here, and this is another important step along the way.”

The Baylor men’s team is ranked No. 19 headed into the meet, while the women’s team is No. 32. Competing against the Bears will be Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, TCU, Texas, and Washington.

“We’ll have some good competition,” Harbour said. “It’s a good meet. We’ll have all the competition we want across the board in every event. It’ll be an outstanding meet. Some of it will be televised, so that’ll be pretty cool. We’re looking forward to it.”

A full slate of events Friday begins with the men’s discus throw at 11:30 a.m. CT. Running events get started with the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at 3 p.m. CT. On Saturday, field events kick off at 10 a.m. CT with the men’s and women’s high jump while running events get rolling with the 4x100-meter relays at 10 a.m. CT.
