WACO, Texas – Baylor Director of Tennis and Head Men’s Tennis Coach Brian Boland announced the addition of redshirt senior Ryan Dickerson and freshman Christopher Frantzen to the 2019-20 roster Wednesday afternoon.

Dickerson is a graduate transfer from Duke University while Frantzen is a freshman from Augsburg, Germany.

Dickerson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a certificate in marketing and management. He sat out last season due to injury.

As a Blue Devil, he compiled a 53-28 singles and 39-32 doubles record. Coming out of Moorestown High School in Moorestown, N.J., he transfers to BU as a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll recipient and three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.

“We are thrilled to add Ryan Dickerson to our squad for the upcoming year,” Boland said. “He is a seasoned veteran and had a lot of success as a student athlete while at Duke. He brings a level of intensity and competitiveness that will fit in perfectly with our culture. Ryan loves to put the time in on the court and in the gym and will thrive on our professional minded team.”

The younger brother of senior Constantin Frantzen, Christopher was the top-ranked U14 Juniors player in Germany. Recently ranked No. 5 in the U18 category, he achieved a career high junior ITF ranking of 261 earlier this year.

“We are pleased with the signing of Christopher Frantzen,” Boland said. “After working with his brother Constantin this past year and getting to know Christopher through the recruiting process, it was clear that we needed to make him a Baylor Bear. Christopher has a great physical build for tennis and brings a competitive spirit to everything he does, which we know will be infectious among the team.”

Dickerson and Frantzen will enter a BU program that has won 13 Big 12 Conference regular season titles and nine tournament crowns over the 23-year history of the league. They join four returning letterwinners and newcomers Finn Bass and Jenson Brooksby for the 2019-20 season.
