Men’s Tennis Adds Dhokia to 2019-20 Roster

WACO, Texas – Baylor Director of Tennis and Head Men’s Tennis Coach Brian Boland announced the addition of freshman Rahul Dhokia to the 2019-20 roster Tuesday morning.

A Leicester, England native, he reached nine ITF finals and won the Slovakia, Montenegro, Cyprus and Dublin ITF doubles titles prior to Baylor. He was also a 2016 finalist in Cyprus and Nottingham and also in Liverpool and Stavanger in 2017.

“We are thrilled to have Rahul become part of the Baylor men’s tennis program,” Boland said. “Rahul is not only an outstanding tennis player, but he is a scholar in the classroom. Rahul chose Baylor because he believes it can provide him the best of all worlds to maximize his potential on and off the court. In the short time Rahul has been part of the team, he has already made an incredibly strong impression on everyone surrounding the program.”

Dhokia played at Wimbledon juniors in 2018 and earned other Tennis Europe titles in Dublin, Ireland and Queenswood. He achieved a 1.1 rating, the highest rating a British player can achieve as a young tennis player.

Dhokia enters a BU program that has won 13 Big 12 Conference regular season titles and nine tournament crowns over the 23-year history of the league. They join four returning letterwinners and newcomers Finn Bass, Ryan Dickerson, Christopher Frantzen and Jenson Brooksby for the 2019-20 season.
