Baylor Men’s Golf Takes Second Place at Royal Oaks

DALLAS – Baylor men’s golf moved up one spot to finish in second place after shooting 10-under-par 274 in Tuesday’s final round at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. The Bears entered the day in third place and moved ahead of Liberty with a three-round total of 16-under 836 at Royal Oaks Country Club.

Baylor (-16) finished second to SMU (-27). The Bears placed ahead of Liberty (-12), Michigan (-4), Charlotte (-1), New Mexico (-1), Kent State (+6), North Texas (+7), Kansas State (+11), Iowa (+16), UTSA (+22) and Nebraska (+51).

All five members of the Baylor lineup recorded top-20 individual finishes. The Bears were led by Colin Kober, who shot 1-under 70 in the final round to tie for eighth place at 5-under 208. Mark Reppe recorded his second career top-10 finish by tying for 10th place after his final round of even-par 71 capped a career-best three-round total of 4-under 209.

Cooper Dossey carded a 2-under 69 on Tuesday to finish tied for 16th place at 1-under 212, while Johnny Keefer and Brandon Hoff tied for 19th place at even-par 213. Hoff matched his career-best round with a 4-under 67 in the final round, while Keefer shot 3-under 68.

Three Baylor players entered the tournament as individuals. Tyler Isenhart led that group with a tie for 27th place at 2-over 215 after a final round of 1-over 72. Travis McInroe shot 5-over 76 in the final round to tie for 34th place at 4-over 217, and Scout McNealy finished tied for 67th at 23-over 236 after carding 8-over 79 on Tuesday.

HIGHLIGHTS

Baylor finished tied for second in the 12-team field in par-5 scoring at 16-under 4.64, tied for third in par-3 scoring at 5-over 3.08 and third in par-4 scoring at 1-over 4.01.

Baylor’s 187 pars tied for the tournament lead, and BU ranked fifth with 45 birdies.

Colin Kober tied for sixth in the 68-player field in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.92, while Cooper Dossey tied for 14th at even-par 3.00.

Dossey, Mark Reppe, Brandon Hoff and Travis McInroe tied for seventh in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.56, while Kober tied for 15th at 3-under 4.67.

Kober and Reppe tied for ninth in par-4 scoring at 1-under 3.97, while Hoff and Johnny Keefer tied for 14th at even-par 4.00.

Reppe tied for second in the field with 41 pars across 56 holes, while Dossey and Kober tied for fifth with 39 pars and Tyler Isenhart tied for 10th with 38 pars.

Keefer tied for 10th with 11 birdies over three rounds.

STAT OF THE DAY
8-under – The five players in Baylor’s lineup combined to shoot 8-under on the back-9, with those players combining to make 11 birdies against only three bogeys after the turn. Hoff made four of his six birdies after the turn to shoot 3-under 33 coming in, while Keefer made two birdies and seven pars to card 2-under on the back-9. Reppe, Kober and Dossey each shot 1-under coming in.

WHAT'S NEXT

Baylor has completed the fall portion of its 2019-20 season and now has more than three months before returning to competition Jan. 27-28 at the Arizona Intercollegiate at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
