WACO, TEXAS – The BUSH A.C.E Outreach Program will expand to Central Texas this spring thanks to the support of Baylor athletics and Texas country music legend Pat Green.

The Bush A.C.E Outreach Program was established in 2012 at the Bush Tennis Center in Midland, Texas to Advise, Counsel and Encourage elementary-age youth through the sport of tennis. Since its inception, the program has served over 30,000 youth throughout the Permian Basin. The program provides professional coaches and local college athletes to provide in-school outreach programs as well as financial support for after school programs and summer camps.

Head Men’s Tennis Coach and Director of Baylor Tennis, Brian Boland says, “My wife Becky and I are excited to support the Bush ACE Outreach Program. This is a great opportunity for our student-athletes to support and give back to the local community. In my office and all around the Hurd Tennis Center it reads, ‘To make the world a better place to live through tennis,’ the Bush ACE Outreach Program does this on a daily basis and at the highest levels. I know from speaking with the Bush family how proud they are of the work that is being done to invest in our youth and we are proud to work with others in the community and Baylor athletics to bring this program to Central Texas,” added Boland.

Texas country music legend and Waco native Pat Green has been a long-time supporter of the Bush ACE Outreach Program and recently performed in Waco to support the program. “Pat has been there for us since day one sharing his time and talent to support the program,” says Tim Stallard, Executive Director of the Bush Tennis Center. “Earlier this month Pat made a $10,000 donation through the Pat Green Foundation to support the program. I know that he is excited to see the kids in Central Texas have the opportunity to benefit from the program,” added Stallard.

Greta Knoll, Director of Alumni Relations and Head Tennis Coach for Vanguard Prep, says, “Pat was a very good tennis player when he played for Vanguard Prep. We look forward to having him back in Waco to support the BUSH ACE Outreach Program and hopefully, we can get him back on the tennis court at Vanguard.”

Thanks to the generous support of the USTA Net Generation program each participating school will receive over $1000 of tennis equipment and lesson plans for students and teachers. “We are currently organizing our program committees and plan to launch the program in the Waco area schools in the spring and then expand into Temple-Belton areas by next fall,” said Becky Boland, Bush ACE Outreach advisor. “This will be such a positive program for area youth as well as Baylor student-athletes,” added Boland.

THE BUSH TENNIS CENTER is a legacy gift to West Texas honoring President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, and the Bush family. The mission of the Bush Tennis Center (BTC) is to provide everyone the opportunity to experience the game of tennis, regardless of physical, financial or geographical barriers. Through BTC outreach programs more than 30,000 children throughout the Permian Basin have had the opportunity to learn the sport of tennis. This year the ACE outreach program (Advise-Counsel- Encourage) will visit more than 30 schools and provide free tennis and educational programs to more than 12,000 children. Upon its completion, the Bush Tennis Center will be the second-largest tennis center in the world with an estimated annual economic impact of over $43 million per year to the Permian Basin economy.
