WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis has unveiled its 2020 spring schedule, announced by second-year Director of Tennis and Head Coach Brian Boland Friday afternoon.

The Bears will have 13 home matches and then travel eight times before heading into the postseason in hopes of securing the program’s 23rd Big 12 title and second NCAA championship.

Baylor opens its dual-match season by hosting a doubleheader on Jan. 18 with Boise State and UT Arlington coming to the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.

The Bears will then host the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, which will serve as the qualifying rounds of the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championships. On Saturday, Jan. 25, second-seeded Louisville will face third-seeded New Mexico in the opening round while top-seeded Baylor takes on fourth-seeded Gonzaga at 3 p.m.

The two winners of the Jan. 25 matches will advance to the championship match on Sunday, Jan. 26, where they will face off for a spot at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships at 3 p.m.

If it wins both matches of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, Baylor will again take part in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Madison, Wis., from Feb. 14-17.

In between the ITA Kick-Off Weekend and the national event, the Bears have three matches. First, BU will head to Fayetteville to face Arkansas on Feb. 1.

Baylor will then face 2019 NCAA runner-up Wake Forest on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. in Waco, followed by a Feb. 8 contest against Penn.

Following the indoor championships, Baylor will host a doubleheader against Grand Canyon and Nebraska-Omaha on Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

BU will hit the road to face Illinois on Feb. 29 at 6 p.m. and then return home to battle Valparaiso on March 4 at 6 p.m. BU will have a road match at Arizona State on March 7 before playing two more home matches against Tulsa (March 15) and Columbia (March 17).

Two days later, the Bears travel to face top tier opponents in neutral site matches at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge from March 19-22 in Indian Wells, Calif.

Texas Tech comes to town for the Big 12 opener on March 28 at 6 p.m., and then the Bears will close out the home slate with a matchup against defending national champion Texas on April 3.

The Bears will close out the regular season with three Big 12 road matches, starting with TCU on April 5 and then Oklahoma State on April 9 and Oklahoma on April 11.

The 2020 Big 12 Championship will be held in Stillwater, Okla., on April 16-19, while the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championships will be held at select campus sites, May 1-3. One week later, the remaining 16 teams will play in campus regionals on May 8-9.

The NCAA Championship final site will be May 14-17 at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater to determine the NCAA champion. Following the team portion, the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will be May 18-23 in Stillwater as well.

The Bears return four letterwinners from last year’s team that earned its 22nd consecutive NCAA Tournament bid and the program’s ninth Big 12 tournament title.
