Despite a loss to Kansas State during Big 12 play, the Sooners will be the home team in the contest as they won the regular season matchup over Baylor in Waco Nov. 16, 34-31. The Bears jumped out to a 28-3 lead in the first half, but the Sooners rallied in the second half and held the Bears scoreless to take the victory on a field goal in the closing minutes.
With losses by No. 5 Alabama (10-2) and No. 8 Minnesota (10-2) on Saturday, No. 7 Oklahoma and No. 9 Baylor should see their rankings rise in the College Football Playoff Top 25 that will be released on Tuesday evening. A win by No. 6 Utah (11-1) over Colorado on Saturday evening means the conference could still need some luck, but the overall resume could be setting up to favor the Big 12 programs after the final data point is tallied next weekend
Oklahoma is looking for their fourth College Football Playoff appearance while Baylor is looking for their first. The Bears narrowly missed the field in 2014, the inaugural season of the playoff system, as the Bears finished No. 5 as eventually National Champion Ohio State leaped the Bears and TCU after a dominant performance in the Big 10 championship game.
