MBB: #2 Baylor 68 Iowa State 55 Postgame Podcast/Thoughts
#2 Baylor (14-1; 4-0) cruises to a 68-55 win over Iowa State (8-8; 1-3) at the Ferrell Center in Waco. The Bears travel to Stillwater Saturday at 11am CST to take on Oklahoma State.
Observations
- This team is incredibly consistent on the glass and defense. Moved to #4 in KenPom’s defensive efficiency after holding ISU to 0.83 points per possession.
- 17 offensive rebounds as Baylor put the game away in the second half with extra possessions.
- Freddie Gillespie, Mark Vital and Davion Mitchell are all top 5 defenders at their position.
- Davion Mitchell’s offense continues to evolve- 17 points; 6 assists and only 2 turnovers.
- We are going to need better bench production in the future. Mayer and Bandoo have been in a bit of a slump lately.
- Saw some good signs from Tristan Clark tonight with aggressiveness on the glass. Timing still a little off, but I liked what I saw body language wise.
- You can’t go 39-1 until you go 15-1... beat OSU
