No. 12 Men's Tennis Hosts No. 6 Wake Forest for “Wimbledon Whiteout”

February 6, 2020

WACO, Texas – No. 12 Baylor men’s tennis (5-1) looks to secure its first top-10 win of the season when it hosts No. 6 Wake Forest (5-0) on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.

The match is a “Wimbledon Whiteout” where fans are encouraged to wear white. Free Wimbledon-themed t-shirts will be given to the first 200 fans in the stands.

The Bears come into Thursday’s match with a 21-match home win streak and have won nine straight matches against ranked opponents in that span.

The all-time series is tied 1-1 with the Bears securing its lone win in the 2009 NCAA Tournament, coming away with the 4-1 victory in College Station. Last season, Baylor defaulted a 7-0 loss at Wake Forest after the Bears couldn’t fill out the lineup due to injury/illness.

BU is 5-0 at home this season and has outscored opponents by a 28-2 margin at Hawkins Indoor. The Bears are coming off their first loss of the season, falling 4-3 at Arkansas last Saturday.

BU boasts four singles players and two doubles teams in the latest ITA rankings. No. 25 Sven Lah, No. 67 Matias Soto, No. 82 Constantin Frantzen and No. 102 Adrian Boitan were listed in singles while Lah and Frantzen were No. 17 and Soto and Ryan Dickerson came in at No. 23 in doubles.

Wake Forest holds a 5-0 record after opening its home slate unbeaten against Coastal Carolina, Tennessee Tech, East Tennessee State, Kentucky and UCF. The Demon Deacons have three ranked singles players in No. 44 Bar Botzer, No. 84 Rrezart Cungu and No. 100 Siddhant Banthia.

Live scoring and live video will be available for all Baylor men’s tennis home matches, and the links can be found on the schedule page at
