Baylor Women’s Golf in Fifth Place at IJGA Collegiate

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Baylor women’s golf is in fifth place after shooting 5-over-par 293 in Monday’s second round of the IJGA Collegiate Invitational. The Bears sit at 2-over 578, seven shots back of the lead entering the final round at Guadalajara Country Club.

No. 25 Baylor (+2) trails only No. 5 South Carolina (-5), No. 18 LSU (-4), No. 8 Stanford (-1) and No. 41 Virginia (E). BU leads No. 2 Arizona State (+4), No. 30 Florida State (+4), Maryland (+6), No. 37 Texas A&M (+7), No. 15 Arkansas (+9), California (+14), No. 36 Clemson (+15), No. 42 Tennessee (+17) and No. 49 Michigan (+19).

Baylor is led by Elodie Chapelet, who carded 2-under 70 in the second round and sits tied for second place at 6-under 138, just two shots back of individual leader Ingrid Lindblad (-8) of LSU. Fiona Liddell shot 1-over 73 in the second round, while Gurleen Kaur posted 3-over 75, and both are tied for 21st place at 1-over 145.

Erica Chiang recorded Baylor’s final counting score with her second straight 3-over 75, and she’s tied for 47th place at 6-over 150. Diane Baillieux is tied for 66th place after shooting 8-over 80 in the second round and 12-over 156 through 36 holes.

Teams continued play for the first nine holes of the final round on Monday, and they will return to the course for the final nine holes on Tuesday morning.

HIGHLIGHTS

Baylor leads the 14-team field in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00, ranks tied for eighth in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.95 and ninth in par-4 scoring at 16-over 4.16.

BU is tied for fifth in the field with 31 birdies and 11th with 110 pars.

Kaur leads the tournament in par-3 scoring at 2-under 2.75, while Chapelet and Chiang rank tied for fourth at 1-under 2.88.

Chapelet is tied for seventh in the field in par-4 scoring at 1-under 3.95, and Liddell is tied for 11th at even-par 4.00.

Chapelet is tied for sixth in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.50.

Chapelet ranks second in the field with 11 birdies across 36 holes, Kaur is tied for fifth with nine birdies and Liddell is tied for 16th with seven birdies.

Chiang is tied for ninth with 25 pars, and Baillieux is tied for 15th with 24 pars.

STAT OF THE DAY 
11 – Elodie Chapelet has made 11 birdies over the first two rounds, which ranks second in the 73-player field. Her 11 birdies have come on 11 different holes. She made birdie on Nos. 1, 2, 7, 13, 15, 16 and 18 in Sunday’s first round and then birdied Nos. 6, 9, 10 and 12 in Monday’s second round.
