Davion Mitchell is very unselfish- 10 assists. Would love to see him look to score a little more off the bounce in traffic (where a lot of his turnovers happen). A shot attempt against a defense in scramble mode will go in or result in an offensive rebound for Baylor a lot of the time.
No. 2 Baylor 85, KSU 66 Postgame Podcast & Thoughts
#2 Baylor (25-2; 14-1) crushed Kansas State (9-19; 2-13) in Waco tonight. Baylor led by 34 before the Wildcats employed a pesky full court press to close the game out on a 16-1 run and pull to within 19. Next up for the Bears is a game against TCU in Fort Worth at 1pm Sat 2/29.
Observations
- The offense was so efficient most of the game that the Bears jumped from 23 to 15 in KenPom’s offensive efficiency metrics before getting sloppy at the end. The Bears had 5 guys in double figures and another 8 points from Devonte Bandoo in route to a 85-66 win against KSU.
- Matthew Mayer continues to improve every game. His offensive production was stellar. But I loved seeing him draw charges and grabbing tough rebounds as well. 19 points (156 offensive rating) with 4 rebounds; 1 block and 1 steal. He can be a difference maker for the Bears going forward.
- Loved seeing Macio Teague knocking down shots early. Macio ended up with 13 points and an effective floor game. He showed no ill effects of the wrist injury.
- Freddie Gillespie continues to set the tone with his activity. 10 points; 11 rebounds; 2 blocks and 2 steals. He’s terrific.

- Need to exert our will against TCU in a similar fashion. They play better at home but Kansas beat them easily at their house and Baylor needs to do the same.
