#2 Baylor (25-3; 14-2) falls to TCU (16-13; 7-9) in Fort Worth, Texas.  The Bears gave up 54 second half points to allow TCU to pull off the upset.  Next up for the Bears is senior night versus Texas Tech Monday night March 2nd in Waco, TX at 8pm CST.

Observations

  • the worst 16 minutes of basketball since the Washington game early in the season.  The Bears led 39-27 at the 16 minute mark of the second half and then allowed TCU to score 48 points in 16 minutes.
  • The Bears did a poor job defending the 3 point line today.  Multiple open 3 point shots including 5 from Desmond Bane, one of the best 3 point shooters in the country.  Baylor played sensational defense in the first half and then relaxed in the second half and got their butt kicked as a result.
  • Freddie Gillespie was terrific overall- 18 points and 17 rebounds along with 3 steals and 3 blocks.  No one else on Baylor’s team had an above average performance on a day where the team needed as least one guy to step up.
  • Poor 3 point shooting (4-17) while giving up 45% for TCU from 3 (9-20).
  • Continue to leave points on the table at the free throw line.   Butler 1-3; Gillespie 4-8 were two that normally shoot a high percentage but missed some free ones today.
  • Need to have short memories and win the next 2.  A 27-3 record and 16-2 in conference heading into the Big12 tournament would be an accomplishment.  The Bears still can earn the #1 overall seed if they win the next 5 games and finish 30-3 heading into the Big Dance.
