Observations

  • After a 4-11 start at the free throw line, the Bears made 11 of their last 12 free throws.
  • Clutch senior performance by Devonte Bandoo who scored 18 points including 4-5 from 3 point range.
  • Freddie Gillespie had to battle on the glass tonight without Mark Vital.  Tech was able to focus their attention on Freddie but he was still able to grab 8 offensive rebounds.
  • Survived the game of his life from Kevin McCullar who was 4-4 from the field and 4-4 from the foul line.  He’s averaged over double figures in scoring the last 7 games.
  • Scott Drew 5-3 against Chris Beard, one of the best coaches in the history of the game.
  • Texas Tech has an NIT resume, but they have the talent, coaching and home court advantage to beat Kansas in Lubbock.  Having a 2 game preparation advantage is big.
  • You can’t win 11 in a row until you win 2 in a row, beat West Virginia.
