On Monday evening Kim Mulkey and the Lady Bears pulled off their second big commitment in two days by landing Stanford graduate transfer DiJonai Carrington. The 5-foot-11 guard played just five games in 2019-20 after sustaining a season-ending injury, which led to her receiving a medical redshirt.

Carrington earned All-Pac 12 honors as a junior in 2019, when she started all 36 games and averaged 14.0 points and 7.5 rebounds. Her marquee game was a 33-point, 13-reboudnd effort in a road win against No. 9 Tennessee. Carrington was one of just five power-five players in the country to average at least 14 points and seven boards.

Carrington averaged 8.8 points and 5.6 rebounds off the bench as a sophomore.

A San Diego native, Carrington earned McDonald’s All-American honors as a senior at Horizon Christian Academy. She also played in the Jordan Brand Classic. She was a consensus top-40 recruit coming out of high school and one service had her ranked as high as No. 17. She was limited to two-and-a-half seasons of high school ball because of two ACL surgeries.

Carrington’s father, Darren, spent eight seasons in the NFL as a wide receiver and appeared in two Super Bowls; one with the Broncos and one with the Chargers.

Carrington’s Career Honors:

  • 2019-20 Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll
  • 2018-19 All-Pac-12 (Coaches and Media)
  • 2019 Pac-12 All-Tournament Team
  • 2018-19 Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention
  • 2017-18 Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention
  • 2016 McDonald's All-American
  • 2016 Jordan Brand Classic All-American
