BREAKING: Iowa MLB transfer Dillon Doyle granted NCAA waiver, can play for Baylor in 2020

A Baylor defense that lost nine starters received some huge news Wednesday when the NCAA granted a waiver that will allow Iowa transfer Dillon Doyle to play immediately.

A 6-foot-3, 237-pound middle linebacker, Doyle was expected to start for the Hawkeyes as a redshirt sophomore this fall. But he left the program in June after his father, Chris, reached a separation agreement with the school. Chris Doyle had been Iowa’s longtime strength and conditioning coach.

Dillon Doyle considered Texas, Wisconsin and Boston College before choosing Baylor on June 18. He announced his decision on Twitter:

"I want to thank everyone that has SUPPORTED me throughout my recruitment," Doyle wrote in his tweet. "Baylor provides a SPECIAL situation to be part of a CULTURE with world-class PEOPLE and COACHES every day, and I CAN'T WAIT to get started."

Had he not been granted the waiver, Doyle would’ve had to sit out the 2020 season under NCAA transfer rules. Instead he’ll have an opportunity to immediately impact a strong linebacking corps that includes Terrel Bernard, William Bradley-King and Matt Jones.

Doyle played in all 13 games as a redshirt freshman at Iowa last season. He tallied 23 tackles and forced a fumble.

What's the story/issue with his dad?

Edit: Never mind I looked it up. Apparently he was a real meanie to some black football players.
