Baylor Men’s Golf in Sixth Place at Colonial Collegiate

FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor men’s golf is in sixth place after shooting 14-over-par 574 across two rounds on Monday at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club. The Bears shot 6-over 286 in the morning round and followed with an 8-over 288 in the afternoon.

Baylor (+14) trails Oklahoma (-3), Texas (+1), Kansas (+10), Texas Tech (+13) and Kansas State (+13). The Bears are in front of TCU (+17), Oklahoma State (+26), Iowa State (+33) and West Virginia (+33).

The tournament is a six-count-four event, allowing each six-man lineup to take its four best scores from each round to form the team score. Ryan Grider led the way in the first round with a 1-under 69, followed by Cooper Dossey at 1-over 71 and Colin Kober and Johnny Keefer both at 3-over 73. Brandon Hoff and Trey Bosco posted matching scores of 6-over 76.

Keefer had a team-best round of even-par 70 in the afternoon. Dossey and Kober both shot 2-over 72, and Grider recorded BU’s final counting score at 4-over 74. Hoff posted 5-over 75 and Bosco carded 11-over 81.

Dossey, Grider and Keefer are tied for 15th place in the individual standings at 3-over 143, four shots back of the lead. Kober is tied for 22nd place at 5-over 215, followed by Hoff in a tie for 44th place at 11-over 151 and Bosco tied for 54th place at 17-over 157.

HIGHLIGHTS

Baylor ranks third in the field in par-4 scoring at 19-over 4.13, eighth in par-3 scoring at 18-over 3.38 and tied for eighth in par-5 scoring at 5-over 5.21.

Baylor’s 138 pars are third-most in the tournament.

Kober is tied for second in the 60-player field in par-4 scoring at 2-under 3.92.

Dossey is tied for third in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00.

Grider is tied for seventh in par-5 scoring at 1-under 4.75.

Dossey’s 26 pars are one back of the tournament lead and tied for fifth-most.

Grider’s seven birdies are tied for sixth-most in the field.

STAT OF THE DAY 
3-over – Baylor combined to shoot 3-over on the front-9 across Monday’s two rounds, eight shots better than the team’s 11-over score on the back-9. Grider played the front-9 at 1-under, while Kober was even-par, Keefer was 1-over and Dossey was 3-over.
