WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) announced today that Baylor will host the 2021 National Championships event on April 22 and 23 at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.

This year’s championship field will be reduced by 50 percent, with four teams advancing to the finals site in Waco for the semifinal and national championship meets. Event finals will not take place during the 2021 national championship event.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to host a safe event this year to give Acrobatics & Tumbling student-athletes an opportunity to compete for a team national championship. We look forward to resuming the full event in 2022," said Janell Cook, Executive Director of the NCATA.

Primary to planning this year’s event is the health and safety of all participants, including the ability to facilitate recommended testing.  Testing will be conducted based on NCAA recommendations for NCAA high risk of transmission sports competed indoors.

"I'd like to thank Baylor for their partnership and diligence in preparing to facilitate a broad testing program on par with NCAA Championship events, and their planning for overall risk mitigation for all participants in the event," said Cook.

A limited number of spectators will be permitted to attend and will comply with masking and social distancing guidelines at all times in the Ferrell Center. Additional event information will be released in early April.

Originally set to take place in Eugene, Ore., this year’s championship will mark the fourth time that Baylor has hosted. The Bears previously held the championships in 2019, 2016 and 2012.

The Bears are set to begin their journey to their sixth consecutive national championship when they take the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. inside the Ferrell Center.
