Baylor Women’s Golf Takes 11th at Gamecock Intercollegiate

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Baylor women’s golf finished in 11th place with a 54-hole total of 26-over-par 890 in the Gamecock Intercollegiate. The Bears carded a final-round 7-over 295 Wednesday afternoon at Columbia Country Club.

No. 1 Baylor (+26) finished in front of No. 16 Arkansas (+27), North Carolina (+28), No. 34 Tennessee (+28), No. 41 Kentucky (+32), No. 44 Furman (+41), No. 15 Florida (+48) and Texas A&M (+52).

Eight of the 10 teams to finish in front of Baylor were top-25 ranked, including six top-15 programs. The Bears placed behind No. 22 Duke (E), No. 5 Wake Forest (+3), No. 2 South Carolina (+6), No. 4 LSU (+14), No. 11 Auburn (+15), No. 32 Vanderbilt (+16), Mississippi State (+17), No. 7 Ole Miss (+22), No. 13 Georgia (+23) and No. 20 Alabama (+25).

Freshman Britta Snyder recorded Baylor’s best round of the day and made a birdie on her final hole to card 2-under 70 and finish tied for 34th place at 6-over 222. Gurleen Kaur had Baylor’s best finish in a tie for 15th place at 2-over 18 with a final round of 2-over 74. Hannah Karg posted 3-over 75 in the final round to tie for 51st place at 9-over 225, and Elodie Chapelet earned BU’s final counting score at 4-over 76 to tie for 80th place at 16-over 232. Rosie Belsham tied for 56th place at 10-over 226 with a final round of 5-over 77.

Baylor finished atop the 18-team field in par-3 scoring at 7-over 3.12, with Kaur and Belsham tied for eighth in the field at even-par 3.00. Karg posted a 1-over 3.08 par-3 scoring average, while Chapelet and Snyder were at 3-over 3.25.
 

STAT OF THE DAY 
70 – Freshman Britta Snyder carded 2-under 70 in the final round, matching Gurleen Kaur’s first round for the best round by a Baylor player in the tournament. Snyder made 14 pars, three birdies and one bogey. She made birdies on her fourth and sixth holes to get to 2-under, then made 10-consecutive pars before a bogey on her 17th hole. She rebounded with a birdie on her final hole to get back to 2-under.

Baylor returns to action in 16 days at the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve Golf Club in Saddlebrook, Ariz.
