MBB: Baylor 75, Texas 64

Scott Drew's squad made a trip to Austin to face the Texas Longhorns for their final regular season game of the 2017 season with the possibility of winning their 25th overall game of the year and claiming their 12th victory in conference. The totals would match the best finish in school history.

Behind Johnathan Motley's 17 points and 17 rebounds, the Bears left without much drama and  with a season sweep of the Horns in the regular season.

Baylor entered halftime with a 40-29 lead and finished with the 11-point victory after extending the lead out to 17 points during the middle of the half.

On Sunday, Motley, a junior, was named Baylor's first-ever unanimous All-Big 12 first team honoree. Junior point guard Manu Lecomte was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and junior center Jo Lual-Acuil was named to the All-Defensive and All-Newcomer team for his efforts.

Senior Ish Wainright earned honorable mention All-Big 12 and All-Defensive team.

Baylor returns to action against Kansas State in the Big 12 tournament on Thursday at 8 p.m. CT.

WBB: Headed to the Big 12 Championship

After a 32-point victory over Texas Tech on Saturday and a 17-point victory over Kansas State on Sunday, the Baylor Lady Bears will play for their seventh Big 12 tournament title in a row against West Virginia on Monday evening. The Lady Bears claimed the Big 12 regular season title last week when they finished their league slate 17-1.

Including a key victory against Texas on Feb. 20 to essentially nail down another conference championship, the Lady Bears have now won seven games in a row and will look for their eighth on Monday evening.

Baylor swept the two games between the two teams in the regular season, but most recently in Waco on Jan. 21, WVU gave Baylor a game that went came down to the final minutes with the Lady bears escaping with a 79-73 victory.

The game against the Lady Mountaineers will tip off Monday evening at 8 p.m. CT on FS1.

Baseball: Bears get pair of wins over ranked opponents

After a perfect 9-0 start to the season, the Baylor baseball team had an opportunity to prove their legitimacy in the Shriners College Classic in Houston over the weekend. The Bears were set to face three ranked SEC opponents including No. 9 Mississippi Friday, No. 3 LSU Saturday, and No. 11 Texas A&M on Sunday.

Baylor began the weekend by claiming a 4-0 victory over the Rebels behind an outstanding performance by starting pitcher Nick Lewis. Lewis 7.0 innings of 2-hit shutout ball and finished with nine strikeouts on the day.

The favor was returned to Baylor by LSU on Saturday, however, as the Tigers gave the Bears their first loss of the season in shutout fashion. But 24 hours later the Bears responded nicely against Texas A&M.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth, it was rally time for the home team. After a run was scored on an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2 and a sacrifice bunt gave Baylor runners at second and third with one outs, the Aggies opted to load the bases on an intentional walk.

Nine-hole hitter Tucker Cascadden, Baylor's most consistent RBI-man early in the season, crushed a walk-off grand slam to the left field bleachers to end the game.

Now 11-1 on the season, Baylor returns to action at Sam Houston State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Softball: Lady Bears claim four top-25 victories

The No. 22-ranked Baylor softball team made a trip to California to partake in the Judi Garman Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton. Facing four ranked teams during the tournament, the Lady Bears swept all four before dropping the final game of the weekend to CSU.

The Lady Bears began the weekend with a 4-2 victory over No. 20 Arizona State of the PAC-12 before shutting out No. 14 Michigan, 4-0. Baylor then faced two top-10 teams in Washington and UCLA and defeated both with final scores of 3-1 and 11-6.

Baylor's only loss came against CSU on Sunday night on a walk-off fielders choice in a 1-0 loss.

Now 18-4 on the season, head coach Glenn Moore was pleased with the way his team played.

“It has been a tremendous weekend for Baylor softball," Moore said. "We beat every ranked team we played and faced the ace pitchers as the starter in three of those games. I couldn’t be happier with how this team responded to the challenge and I thought we played every aspect of the game at an elite level. We gained a lot of momentum and confidence to carry through the rest of spring break and on throughout the regular season.”

Baylor returns to the field against Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. CT.
