We saw The Boys in the Boat tonight. It's a bit of a by-the-numbers sports story but it's fun and inspiring. I will say that the audio book is actually a bit more exciting in telling the story of the final race. Still, it's a good story.

Tried to watch 'Fosse-Verdon' about Bob Fosse and his wife. Sam Rockwell is brilliant as always as Fosse, but Michelle Williams was tedious as Verdon.

Overall, its WAAAAAAAY too slow. Cannot believe that it won Daytime Grammys.

It was separated into 8 episodes. Should have condensed them into 4.

I saw "the creator". If there is a movie to watch, then one of the items has its way. It's a movie that's sure to be a deep pen. Only one sea has the light of current developments. Because it is indeed a war film. No solo between humans and A.I.

Recently discovered a series called "Mindhunter" on Netflix…it's excellent! True crime type drama about the FBI in the '70s when they created the Behavioral Science Unit.

It is very good. From director David Fincher who did Fight Club, Seven, Panic Room, and many more.

Only 2 seasons, disappointed there was not more. FYI - you are not screwed up on story line with it ending at 2, just wanting more. Word is there will be no more.

Excellent series. Fincher is "thinking" about bringing it back:

I am currently finishing up the new season of Fargo. It is quite good and probably the best season since season 1. The other seasons are good, but I have enjoyed the new one a bit more. Jon Hamm can play a heartless brute all too well.

Saw 'Napoleon' yesterday.

For the budget spent, it was a total dud. Great battle scenes, but it was soooo choppy, Joquain's character bounced around a lot, I wanted more history in it, while they wanted more sex in it, strange story line that never got you invested in it, for a Ridley Scott flick, a real bomb. Lucky for him, he's got Gladiator 2 in the works.

Watched The Holdovers. Worth watching. 3 central cast members do great work. More dialogue driven like 90s dramas.

Also saw another Alexander Payne film. The Descendants. 2011 release but very good if you haven't seen it.

Random Netflix watch that was surprisingly great was "Bank of Dave". Couple of corny pro socialism lines but if you ignore those an uplifting funny very positive film. Loosely based on a true story.

Just binged the season. It was REALLY good.

Good acting by all and a good story. Could easily see the influence for Roy and his "patriots".

Fool me once ( Netflix series ) - very interesting series. I finished it in one day, and I loved it.
The plot is interesting and very complex, and the ending will leave you speechless.

Never saw "Nashville" until a couple of weeks ago when I started a slow binge. Just got to the part where one of the central charachters pass. Seems to be going downhill quickly after that

Finally watched "Iron Claw" a couple of days ago. A little let down as it was woefully miscast and kinda took too many historical liberties.

I knew all these guys, not from the Sportatorium but because they would all work out at the down and dirty Doug's Gym, where the real lifters worked out. Whenever a wrestler would come into town, that was the first place he headed to. And I was a member there for several years. No AC, patchwork carpet made from salesmen's sample, you get the idea.

The heights, faces and personalities were way of from what I remember. Here are the heights;

Zac Efron is 5'8", Kevin Von Erich is a bit taller than me, I would guess 6'1 or so

Jeremy Allen White is 5'7", the guy he played, Kerry Von Erich was about 6'2 or 6'3. He was easily the worst casting as Kerry looked like a massive Greek god, cut and shredded. Jeremy (Carmen from the Bear) looked puny and like a stiff breeze would knock him over

Harris Dickinson is just over 6', he played the 6'8 David Von Erich

Holt McCallany is 6'1", the real Fritz Von Erich was about 6'4. Still, he nailed the character closer than anyone.

Not sure how tall the fella playing Bruiser Brody was, but it was probably 5'10 or 11. Bruiser (West Texas State's Frank Goodish) was about 6'6 or 6'7. Just a huge man. He would throw 315 on the bench and rep it till the cows come home.

Watched Killer of the Flower Moon today. Slow and ponderous, plus I can't stand deNiro anymore. Had to cut if off about half way through. Wouldnt advise anyone to spend time on this one unless you wanted to let it run on full blast while you and the wifee were in the shower and wanted to muffle certain particular sounds from the kiddos...

I liked Killers of the Flower Moon. Definitely very long and slow. It's a horribly sad true story more people should know about. Jesse Plemons' and his FBI crew should've shown up sooner. The history of he and his team and what they did is very interesting.

Scorsese is like Steven King, greatness, but I liked them better before they got to tell editors what to do.

Watched the rest of it... my god it was tedious. And no payoff. The way he shot it, there was no redeeming quality or ending for the Osage women or the Osage nation.

3 1/2 hours out of my life I could have spent on Facebook...

It's not uplifting but that's the true story. Plemons' character was a former Texas Ranger and cracked a case Hoover didn't necessarily think possible. After a couple arrests the government shut down the case and Hoover billed the tribe for his agencies time. No one is even quite sure how many Osage were murdered. Laws at the time prevented them from managing their own money.

The movie was very slow and long. Solid acting but Scorsese could've cut 30-45 minutes and told the same story. He could not however make it uplifting as the actual story is anything but.

If you like Jason Statham flicks, the Beekeeper was pretty good. Doesnt take itself too seriously. He's the Assassin of the assassins. Went into deep hiding and came out when he was being tracked. Just fun as only Statham can do it
