While they have not yet declared the finding of life, they detected "potential biosignatures" that are typically produced by living organisms such as marine algae

Well, we could send them a laser message and wait the 248 years for the earliest that the message could get back, I guess. Imagine if Ben Franklin had just had the foresight to send a laser message to this planet when he was 40 - We would have heard back (or not) by 1996. Instead, because of the ineptitude and lack of forward thinking of our founding fathers, who were too preoccupied with maintaining the oppressive patriarchy through the adoption of the US Constitution to communicate with other, less potentially oppressive civilizations, we are instead left with the deafening silence and shame that oppression always produces! Fight the power!

I would hope that space travel tech will improve greatly with the Musk Mars mission. We will learn how to increase our speed by light years, literally. Hard to see it now, but think of the increases since we went to the moon by private companies. Musk is always on the cutting edge. Amazon will have a delivery system to K2-18b in no time!

Just hoping that Bezos decides to go there personally...
