I just found out that BU now has coed dorms. When did that change? Are the coed dorms on campus?

We used to get in trouble for sneaking girls into penland.

There were rooms each year about the "girls" in Penland.

The dorms are split in halves with separate entrances. It's two (or more) genders under one roof but not in the same space.

They all are now except for one I think.

What was the purpose?

A lot of dorms are moving to a Living & Learning format. This allows both genders to live near people who are in the same majors/programs.

The ones with single gender (Martin & Collins) are called Freshman Experience.

It is really misleading to call them coed dorms when they are split and it is not like there are people right next door of the other gender.

Even in the new apartment style housing calling it coed just because one apartment is all guys and the other is all girls is a stretch.

Seems like it would be really easy to get in to the other side.

They have a wall that essentially splits the building into 2 buildings and different entrances so not really. The apartment style ones much more so as they are all in the same hallway
