I've heard SMU tossed around as a potential expansion team for the Pac 12 (-2). If it becomes more than just speculation should the Big 12 consider an invite to keep the Pac 12 (-2) from getting a foothold in the Dallas market? I know they don't add much, but I'd hate for them to join the Pac 12 (-2).

If they wouldnt add much to the pac12, why in the world would we add them? We're already viewed as the conference of the sisters of the poor colleges. We dont need a regional school like SMU to water us down anymore

now.. if we could switch them for tcu, then i'd be down. I do think that SMU has the higher ceiling than tcu

To be brief: no.

Send them SMU and add TCU and Rice as a 3 for 1 freebie. Have them send us a bottle of 2 Buck Chuck and call it even.

A bottle of Two Buck Chuck would put us ahead. Savy deal making.

No. Too many Texas teams are in P5s already.

I see no reason why any P5 conference would be interested in SMU. Their following is too limited - even in the DFW market. They would be the epitome of just another mouth to feed that delivers little in return.

It is an indication of the trouble the Pac is in actually. Frankly if SMU is in the Pac that means it has become the MWC II. I really cannot picture UW and Oregon staying in a conference in which they have road conference games in little Ford stadium. I'm not trying to be offensive to SMU, I just cant picture Oregon and Washington among others being in that conference.

Most of the fan talk about SMU from out west is people who just look at SMU being in Dallas. They have no clue as to the little impact and notice that SMU football gives and receives from the Dallas area.

I could see why SMU would be attractive. Offers central time zone for games and a foot into Texas recruiting. I think it would add more than SDSU or Fresno State. The conferences have become more about TV schedules and content vs. quality programs and attendance.

lol… the pac 12 would be better off adding UNT if they wanted the DFW area. That's not gonna happen either.

SMU has good success over two years siphoning off transfers. Not a long term strategy IMO.

SMU tries to buy Big D's love and affection by tattooing "Dallas" on every player (well, on their uniforms anyway).

Imagine what it would look like to put a big WACO on our unis.

I love how realignment has given off ridiculous concepts such as "College A give you this market." SMU is nothing but an afterthought in Dallas. San Diego St. is nothing but an afterthought in Southern California. Houston, like Dallas, is a professional city. UH barely registers. Rutgers isn't even a thought in the NYC market.
Tulane gives you the New Orleans market? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I would surely hope conference execs and/or TV/streaming execs aren't basing long-term economic decisions on moronic concepts like that. Otherwise, they're in for a rude awakening when the TV numbers come in and advertisers laugh at advertisement pricing offered by the networks or streaming services.

The PAC 12 recently told Washington State that the Cougars can't play Idaho because the Vandals don't have a high enough national ranking. The cut off is at #150, I believe. This is in basketball.

The two universities are NINE miles apart.
They have played 277 times, and annually for over 100 years.

The next closest opponents are E. Washington, and Gonzaga. The Zags are 75 miles north in Spokane.
