I am guessing here that UCLA was thrown in to get USC. Is UCLA having second thoughts? Are they are also wanting more PAC 12 teams in BIG? I am sure there is enormous pressure on UCLA because they have no fan attendance and football is in decline. Travel out of state can easily be paid for by BIG money but do they really want to go to all this trouble? Adding PAC 12 teams brings cheaper travel and more local interest and BIG can still capture southern CA market.

To think that some in PAC 12 believe that San Diego State will bring southern CA market is ridiculous.

While football drives the conference realignment schools have to think about the other sports as well.

IN almost every other sport they play two games a week and often are guaranteed they will travel to every other conference school once in that sport. Then add in the possibility that they could play a Tuesday night basketball game at Ohio State and a Saturday game at Michigan (for example). The team either has to stay in hotels Tuesday-Saturday or fly back and forth with a hotel just a few nights a week.

That can get really expensive when you have lots of teams traveling all year.

UCLA can really save on travel if they simply play area high schools and JUCOs.

Problem solved. No charge.

Or drop the D3 like the Regent suggested Cal do...

First of all the Pac Commissioner is just desperately throwing out nonsense.

I doubt helping new member UCLA with expenses is a realignment driver for the B10.. Additionally they will be making about 70 million more a year, I doubt the travel expenses eat all that extra money up. Furthermore they were not forced to join the B10 in the first place.

Yeah UCLA is not having second thoughts..there's a lot of moving parts..If Cal isn't invited to Big 10 you'll probably see a scenario where UCLA has to pay Cal .

That's a lot more likely than UCLA staying.
