No but it makes sense.OsoCoreyell said:
If Engel was behind that, he really ought to be fired. Any proof?
I don't care about that ... they are just doing their job... They arent run by Baylor. But I hate that doorknob.BellCountyBear said:
Even more galling is that ESPN 1660 (Waco) has this megalomaniac ******bag on regularly for interviews.
So, unless I'm misinterpreting your apparently ironic tone, you think it is against the Christian mission to recognize that the post-modern media establishment has their knives sharpened for you and to attempt to manage getting into a public cat-fight with a former employee by settling with him and getting a non-disparagement provision? You have an unbelievably nave view of things. It must be nice in that snowglobe you live in locked up in a safe.LBKBEAR said:
Very Christian of Baylor to pay a guilty man to get him out of a contract. Even more Christian of Baylor not to let a guilty man hang himself. I'm glad that Baylor is staying true to their Christian mission to save the man who they say started all of this. Now if only we could get a handle on Title IX.
I agree with LBKBEAR. The ultimate goal of the high and mighty Baylor BOR was to protect the Baylor brand and not admit to the outside world that Baylor students have sex. So what you seem to basically be saying is that it is perfectly fine for the leadership of Baylor to pay Briles $15- $25 million so that they won't be "disparaged"? I thought you were an attorney. Isn't this a breach of fiduciary responsibility?OsoCoreyell said:So, unless I'm misinterpreting your apparently ironic tone, you think it is against the Christian mission to recognize that the post-modern media establishment has their knives sharpened for you and to attempt to manage getting into a public cat-fight with a former employee by settling with him and getting a non-disparagement provision? The Hugh Freeze situation was different because it is very unlikely that anyone is suing Ole' Miss because he hired prostitutes for himself or players. Also, Ole' Miss can count on friendly media being a public U and SEC charter school. In the media view, they are "supposed" to succeed and therefore need not be slapped down.80sBEAR said:I agree with LBKBEAR. Hugh Freeze left Ole Miss with $0. Is the Ole Miss leadership just smarter than ours or what?
Don't know if any smarter, but smarts and courage are two different things.80sBEAR said:I agree with LBKBEAR. Sorry goldtexan. Back on track. Peace. Love. Goodwill towards men. Every day is sunshine and 72 degrees at Baylor. Now let's all join hands and sing KUMBAYA!goldtexan said:

Let's focus on Mac Engel's article.
PM each other if you want to argue.
Excuse me, you old coot! What or who exactly am I apologizing for? I am spitting on Baylor because I am just asking why we paid Art Briles a fortune to go away and keep quiet? I love Baylor. I just think we just have pi$$ poor leadership.harleyJspoon said:
80sBear is one of those apologists who thinks it makes him look good to sanctimoniously spit on Baylor.
My ironclad practice is Engle on, ESPN 1660 off. They exercise their right, I exercise mine.BellCountyBear said:

That's some next-level, runned-over-dog stuff right there.harleyJspoon said:
ENGEL WAS BEHIND IT! HE BRAGS ABOUT THAT. HE NEEDS TO BE TARRED & FEATHERED. HE'S NO MORE OBJECTIVE AS A SPORTS "JOURNALIST" THAN RUSH "THE DOCTAH SHOPPIN', PILL POPPIN' CONVICT" LIMBAUGH IS REGARDNG POLITICS. AND RUSH IS A CONVICT. ENGEL IS EVEN WORSE THAT A CONVICT; HE'S A LYING MUCKRAKER!!!
