Look I've said it before and it needs to be said again. This mess with the football team and the culture surrounding it starts at the top. We need to fire president Livingstone and Mack Rhoades and just clean house. Fire everyone and course correct here

Seems like all the key muckity mucks have cared about for awhile is the "R1" designation and a shiny Welcome Center.

Linda is ineffective and was a sub par educator at Baylor in the 90's.

Money that could've been put elsewhere. I could care less if we get a new welcome center. No one new will apply based on the welcome center

Agreed, mostly. If Rhoades won't make a change, though, Linda has to change Rhoades. If she won't do that then she very much is part of the problem.

Hiring Matt Rhule was a great hire. Losing him to the NFL was unavoidable. Letting Kim Mulkey walk was avoidable and a big mistake. Hiring Aranda was a crapshoot and it failed. Mack is on thin ice at this point and his fate may be tied to Aranda once the buyout becomes manageable to some big donor.

So if it starts at the top, then we should also give credit to Mack and Linda for the Big 12 championship in 2021 and the basketball national championship in 2021, and the basketball big 12 championships during their tenure, correct? If we are going to credit them with the failures, then we have to credit them with the successes.

I understand putting a lot of the fault of this season on Mack. What Linda Livingstone has to do with it, I have no idea. I think it would be stupid to fire either of them over this season. Particularly because I think Mack will make the necessary move and fire Aranda this year. I think it'll come right after Iowa state bullies us at Homecoming.

Mack stated that he has "full faith" in Dave Aranda, which is like the kiss of death from an athletic director. Almost every AD says that before they end up firing a flailing head coach.

Aranda has some ...... I say some quality players....HE JUST GETS OUTCOACHED........enough with this 'braniac" crap he puts out..........just flat assed outcoached ..!!! and what the hell happened to this new D coach from Oregon. Nasty results.........well I guess we have to endure this crap.
LOMBARDY chewed asses when they didn't perform............Aranda just folds his arms on the damn sidelines and never has anything to say...............he's just a BYSTANDER......

It's not too much focus on academics, its too much wokey crap and not enough focus on football. Failure to focus sufficiently on football or understand our football traditions leads to dismissals of presidents.

Just remember, Robert Sloan did not get fired because of 2 votes of no-confidence from the faculty senate, or the murder of one Baylor Basketball player by another, or the behavior of cheatin', lyin' Dave Bliss. No. what finally brought him down was lack of wins over a protracted period of time by the football team.

John Lilley did not get fired because he was an intellectual lightweight and a general doofus, but because he wanted to institute the same colors we are using today. The coupe de grace was wanting to eliminate the interlocking BU and replace it with an arched Baylor word mark. His damnyankee consultants thought people confused BU on a Baylor helmet with Boston University. That got him fired.

Ken Starr got fired because he did not manage the lightweight Canadian doofus in brown suits who failed to provide appropriate guidance to the football head coach, or was simply ignored by the football coach who had an actual personality versus the Canadian. K Starr was also fired over issues with the football program.

Of course they are worried that he would leave. I'd leave this dumpster fire if I didn't see change asap. Every good player will look to leave because no one with talent can make a difference here given the current coaching situation. Would any of you come to Baylor given our coaching situation? None of us would, so why would they stay if they're good enough to get portaled out to a much better place?

Only hope is that that they care about the BU degree (and any NIL they may be getting) more than the schools that offer.

I agree. I don't understand why people include Linda when railing on the football program's problems.

Good catch. I could not care less if we get a new welcome center and in an ideal world I would have used every dime of that for NIL if possible

I wouldn't blame Shapen one bit for entering the portal given the state of our OL. I think Shapen is thinking in terms of self-preservation. He has an interest in not getting obliterated within 1.2 seconds of receiving the snap.

All started with real bad moves by B. O.R. Briles and his program which built the stadium could have been saved if the B.O.R. admitted they had a program which they were just about to fund that was the model for all universities. Simple fix, fade the heat. The media has never been our friend and isn't now. Football would have been fine. Now it is at the bottom.

No energy to start games indicates the staff has lost the players. They do not feel our system can win. The portal becomes a real concern from our few talented players. A new staff may hold some but we need a huge talent infusion from the portal. I'm not talking 10 players more like 25. What we are sending out to play is not competitive. Our players know it.

Shapen has done a heroic job. Wouldn't been surprised if he was lookin around. Not seeing any hope for our o line or o play calling. Sad situation to drop this far this fast.

Maybe encourage him to also play baseball? Missing spring practice wouldn't be much, given the state of the rest of the team ... and no legit challengers for the qb1 spot. Might make him happy enough to stay.
