While college football is in a lull, it's a good time for the major conferences to fix their names.
They can't steal names already taken by the lesser leagues, and they want continuity, so here are my suggestions on how minor tweaks could fix it.
- Big Ten becomes the BIG TENT CONFERENCE
- Southeast becomes the SOUTH-EAST-AND-WEST CONFERENCE
- ACC becomes the ATLANTIC-TO-PACIFIC COAST CONFERENCE
- PAC-12 becomes the PACKED-UP CONFERENCE
Unfortunately, our Big 12 Conference has the toughest time with a new name that isn't also a total makeover.
- BIG-TIME CONFERENCE
- BIG 16 CONFERENCE
- BIG TWERPS CONFERENCE
- BIG TWERKING CONFERENCE
I've seen a suggestion that we admit Oregon State and Washington State and keep the Big 12 name because then it would reflect the number of states involved:
- Arizona
- Colorado
- Florida
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Ohio
- Oklahoma
- Oregon
- Texas
- Utah
- Washington
- West Virginia
