For dad, absolutely, but he has only had 1 son go to Ohio state. This will be his first son going to a school as a scholarship player too and not a walk-on. Michigan's QB room is so bad that they will for sure start a true freshman in Underwood next season. little Herby might get a chance to play here and there

I think I read somwhere that this Herbstreit is actually halfway decent. His other sons were walk-ons at Clemson, but it was complete nepotism (I'm sure they worked hard like everyone, but you get my drift). I don't think they ever got even close to sniffing the field.

So the recruiting sites show he had an offer from Michigan, and then no other college football programs? No official college visits. 1 unofficial visit to Cincinnati. Seems odd.

I know one of his sons at Clemson scored or something while he was calling the game and that was kind of cool to see, he got a little emotional, rightfully so.

When I was at Michigan, I got to go to the Rose Bowl. My wife was working for the Aluni Association, so I got to sit in the "jumbo shrimp" box with her. Bob Griese and Kieth Jackson were just in the next room calling the game, so we had to be really quiet. But Bob's son, Brian, was the starting QB for Michigan. Bob called a very professional game, but I got to hear the off-mic moments of a dad getting to see his kid play for a national championship, and it was incredible. He would give a great call, then they'd go to commercial and he'd just start to lose it. Keith Jackson kept bucking him up ("He's doing great, bob! He's so good! Just on quarter to go!). When it was over and Michigan won, Bob literally broke down crying and ran down to the locker room. I got a little misty myself. Incredible to "hear," though. I can't imagine what that's like.

That's a pretty cool thing to hear/experience! And jumbo shrimp in the luxury suites are the best. Whenever I've had the opportunity to sit in a box suite for any sporting event…I almost care more about the food than the game itself.

I think the Buckeye faithful gave Herb and his family a bad taste when they were living in Columbus....too many derogatory/threatening comments.

I'm not going to defend the Michigan fans too much, but Ohio State fans are in a whole other category. They are much more akin to soccer hooigans than any other fanbase I've run into. I went to one game in Columbus. I wore a "Go Blue" shirt and sat mostly with Michigan fans. I cheered when Michigan scored, but I said nothing negative at all about Ohio State.

It was easily the most "threatened" I've ever felt at a sporting event. I was hit by no less than 10 water bottles (some full) during the game. After the game, I was shoved 3-4 times and had at least 2 guys try to start a fight. When I looked at the Ohio State cops, they just shrugged. My car was vandalized, I probably heard the F-word about 1000x. Their fans are just scum.

I've heard Philly fans are as bad, but I haven't experienced that yet.

Apparently things were so bad after a game vs the 49ers (an Eagles loss) that they opened Eagles Court and a jail..at the old veterans stadium.

They had jail cells and a little court / hearing room staffed by a judge. Granted, that is a long time ago and they closed the jail when they demolished the stadium. Don't be surprised though if you go see a game in the future and run into some jack asses while you are there.
