You should be encouraged. Our D put Beuchele in the game. Ellinger got hurt because we were physical. And I am not glorifying anyone getting hurt. He's a good kid and competitor. Wish he could have played. But our D played lights out and they tackled. They did this against the one team we will be facing besides WVU that has big playmakers on the outside. The rest of the Big XII have questions at quarterback for that to be pinpoint issue. Iowa State may stable at the web position.
Honestly we should've won the game. But they played hard and was the better team for most of the besides 6 bad minutes prior to the half that allowed a field goal.
Hopefully we build off of this and go get two more wins. Hopefully Mims is ok. It was great to see Strickland step up. If Charlie had a little more time in the pocket at the end I truly believe Hurd would've came down with the catch. If I were being ticky tacky about the last few possessions, I think we should have called a slant we're the blitzer was coming. Texas lucked out. Had we sent Hurd or Strickland over the middle it would have been a td. Instead we played vertical which is useless when your less than 10 yards away. I guess we figured that our guys were bigger than theirs and wanted to play basketball down there. Holding on to a timeout or two would've been nice too. But great game for our guys. Valiant effort by them and the coaching staff. Hopefully we carry this forward.
