Yours truly at no. 9

9. 2020-21 Baylor Bears

Record: 28-2 (13-1 Big 12)
Accomplishments: National champion, Big 12 champion

MaCio Teague (15.9 PPG), Jared Butler (16.7 PPG) and Davion Mitchell (14.0 PPG) were the engine for one of the most dominant college basketball seasons of the past 25 years. Scott Drew's squad won its first 18 games, but the Bears saved their best work for the NCAA tournament, where they defeated their opponents by an average of 17 points. That includes impressive wins over Houston, a top-10 defensive team, in the Final Four and Gonzaga, the top offensive team in America, in the title game.

The Baylor team that showed up at the Final Four probably could have beaten any of these teams. They were on fire and utterly dominating in those last two games. And keeping in mind that the Gonzaga team we embarrassed was supposed to be one of the best ever.

Agreed!! It wouldn't be ESPN if they didn't throw a little shade at Baylor.

I noticed that. I think that's what the video clip was about. There were so many others they could have used: Kansas in Waco, Illinois, Auburn, WVU, Tech, Villanova, Arkansas, Houston, Gonzaga, etc.

From ESPN…Latest article on ranking past National Champions:

Another honorary certificate goes out at the top here too, this time to Baylor and its magnificent 2021 run. Yes, there was a pandemic. No, there were no fans (or not many) in the stands. Even so, the Bears were exceptional. BU won its games by an average of 15 points despite facing five top-20 KenPom opponents, including three (Villanova, Houston and Gonzaga) ranked in the top five. That'll do.
