My suspicion is this is the luxury of a huge fanbase: 10,000 guys investing $350 on a maybe he can play this year guy makes more sense than the big donors looking at laying down 6 or 7 figures. Those guys have advisors screaming "NO" and family reaching for power of attorney.Big12Fan2024 said:
They spent $3.5 million on Quaintance and don't even know if he will be able to play in the fall or winter after his ACL knee surgery.
I can understand someone donating millions of dollars to his/her alma mater for sports things like building a new arena or field or anything of substance that is probably going to be around for years and years. What I can't grasp is what does some booster gets for pumping $3.5 million into Kentucky's collective for 1 year going to a player who may never even play a game for Kentucky. Ok, let's say Kentucky wins the National Championship. What do you get? A couple of weeks bragging to buddies at the country club that your school won a national championship? That's all a few months later when yet another season starts.
I guess that's the difference in those of have that kind of money................ and me, who doesn't. ha

You're probably right. I just can't imagine laying down that kind of money, even for the guys who are not injured.
And then, turning around and doing the same thing year after year after year.
Duke didn't win a Natty after their collective paid Flagg $4.8 million, so I guess we'll see how it works for Kentucky next year. But at least Flagg was worth watching for his incredible skill level. Some of these other guys are just that -- guys.

Kentucky has been irrelevant since anthony davis. this is absolutely wild. they live in some weird past and that money can fix all problems. spoiler: it doesnt. Imagine that locker room. this is not a team, this is individual

Flagg did everything for the fan base all year long, a pleasure to watch. He missed a bunny at the end of the game. That's how close these things can come down to. We didn't experience that on our run. We handled everyone pretty easily.
