there's some heavy stuff going on with his family. He needed to focus on that. Before speculation runs wild, no affair or addiction issue. Just needs to focus on his family and also has some issues to deal with health wise as well probably in large part because of all the stress surrounding this. Keep him in your prayers. Great dude and huge asset to Baylor basketball over the years.

Thanks, Ashley. Coach Nuness has been an invaluable member of Coach Drew's staff for 16 years now. His loss is definitely going to be missed.

I'll be praying for he and his wife and that he gets the healing he needs.

Absolutely. Life is hard. Nothing but positive vibes for him and his family. Thanks for sharing Ashley.

Thanks for jumping in front of this. He was about to be rumored to be caught in a 3 way.

Whether it was him or his son placing bets, I think this shows poor judgement on Coach Nuness' part. I think my Dad was wise when he told me not to gamble.

Hard to be focused on your job and family resposibilities when youre placing 4000 bets.

His penalty doesn't sound severe. KWTX is reporting something about a course on the sports betting and a 3 game suspension if and when he lands another college coaching job.

I'm confused. The whole excuse of family and/or personal physical sickness was nothing but a lie to cover up for a gambling addiction by either him or his son? Please tell me I'm misunderstanding this. Otherwise, this seems quite a bit disingenuous on the part of people who have pedaled this narrative, which includes the basketball staff and this site.

Perhaps it was the stress of the investigation and knowing he was busted.

Disingenuous? Maybe

Dishonest? No

First of all, this was not a Baylor investigation. Baylor was informed of an investigation apparently about the same time Nuness resigned. The public announcement of his departure is strikingly spare --even by Baylor standards. I see no direct or indirect quote from Drew. The statements about "family" and focusing on personal health all seem to come from Nuness. Baylor making comment or refuting those comments would be putting Baylor in with or opposed to the investigation. This may be one instance where Baylor listened to lawyers and it's not costing $100mm.
