We do best when we are under appreciated. We will be in the conference championship hunt this year!

Football season officially ended tonight! Help me Baylor basketball, you're my only hope!

7th in this conference would be respectable this year. Top 5 would be overachieving for this team. Contending for the championship would be elite.

Truth, my money has been redirected from the remaining two football games into MBB. The win over Florida gives me hope....

I was ready for a new quarterback after the second series of the second half. How could our offensive play been any worse with a second-string quarterback with two wins.

As the announcers were talking about Lagway's ankle, I wondered why the coaches didn't sub in Bennett. He has limited experience and could use more. He couldn't have been any worse. If Lagway's ankle is still that much of an issue then that probably explains the bad throws.

Why did you post this on the MBB board on a thread about Baylor's preseason coaches poll?

This is the MBB board & a thread about Baylor's preseason 10th place pick by the coaches, why are you posting about football here?

It's understandable. We all had the urge to start shouting "air ball" with each pass.

Any way to bet this? I don't see us winning the whole thing but I see a top 5 as a strong possibility.

Granted we have some data points that the voters didn't have, but I think Baylor's placement in this preseason poll is going to look really, really stupid by season's end.

I think it was mostly based upon the dismal results last season

It's not supposed to be. They're supposed to look at this years team....who they lost, who they brought in from the portal, etc. Pretty lazy of the coaches if they just voted based on how good the teams were last year.

I could be wrong but it seems to me that it's often a factor, if unspoken. And so often, there are so many unknowns with new rosters.

Which is why things like pre-season polls and pre-season rankings are so worthless - especially in the current portal / NIL age with so much annual roster change and turnover.

It appears whomever is choosing Arizona to repeat is basing their decision on last year's results, at least to some extent. It's also possible that's only appearance.

There are too many variables and no one really knows which teams are going to excel, which will be mediocre, and which will be terrible. They can only go by the past, which is a useful but imperfect guide. In the end, it's all guess work.

Baylor presents a unique problem for speculation because our roster is a bunch of new people. No one knows much about team chemistry, how well everyone will work together, what combinations will work best, etc. Not to mention what injuries a team might experience such as Baylor after the natty.

True but a few minutes of homework can tell them which teams improved last years talent and which didn't. Ours improved significantly it appears.

For the past 3-4 years we've been picked near the top of the Big 12 and finished lower than predicted most of the those years. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise and we'll do the reverse.

The start has undoubtedly been beyond expectations in the exhibitions, but we'll get a chance for additional evaluation against Texas in a couple of weeks and in Vegas in roughly a month from now in real games that count. The great news is that we sure have a lot of positives going into next week's tip off to the season.

I would think there is a better than average chance your starting backcourt has chemistry when they share the same parents.

We will move up when we start winning more games, especially those ranked above us. More importantly, we will be ranked nationally by winning ooc games, especially Texas, Bama, & Gonzaga.

A fact that I temporarily forgot about after Baylor beat top teams Florida and Illinois is that TANG is back coaching up the Bears. That is a key factor.

They're a lot off. We're tied for seventh, not fourth.
