I hope that they don't go under screens against ISU. They have done that in every game I have seen, and some have made them pay for it, others not quite so much, but ISU may have the shooters that most other teams don't have.

I read a post in a MBB thread yesterday suggesting that Drew was coming to the WBB game today and was sitting in the student's section. Anyone know anything about that? For some reason, I don't envision Drew doing the "Word Up" prance as artfully as CNC performed when she sat in the student section for a MBB game. Fun times at the Ferrell.

Hope the student section is on fire today along with our three point shooters.

EDIT:: Also who guards Ashley Joens today? She has so many moves in the post area and draws so many fouls. I think Bickle is probably best equipped for her game.

Bickle as great as she is would get eaten alive by Ashley. My guess is it's Lewis on her. Don't really see any of guards being able to guard her effectively. Let her go off that's fine. The key is limiting their other shooters to minimal points. Joens could go for 25 but if we erase or minimize the rest of the team we win

Being critical of our 3PT defense is not a new development this season....I feel like we have expressed frustration about that for several seasons. As a point of comparison, our opponents' 3PT shooting percentage in the 2020-2021 season was 29 percent. Through the OSU game, our opponents this season are hitting 30 percent. Now, as we play more conference games against better opponents than some of the non-conference opponents, that % may increase, Even if it increases to 35%, we are looking at somewhere between 1 and 2 additional made 3PT shots per game.

Where I hope to see improvement more than anywhere else is rebounding. Last season, we finished with a rebounding margin of +18.6. That was all the way through the Elite 8 loss to UCONN. That is a huge differential. We were only outrebounded in ONE game for all of last season: the game against Iowa State coming off the COVID pause.

Season to date, our rebounding margin has fallen to only 6 per game, and that could continue to shrink as we play better teams than some of the non-conference opponents included in the margin. In addition, we have already been outrebounded in 5 games.

That decrease in margin by more than 12 is a big reason why we have struggled somewhat this season, IMO. Hopefully we take care of the boards today. I will be there!

Taxman, there's no arguing those rebounding differentials you mentioned. Surely you see that those figures shouldn't be surprising since the current team is missing Richard's, Landrum and Ursin, three guards that could board like few others. Juicy and Didi were tall, Moon could jump outta the gym, and all were aggressive on the glass. The current Bears guards are short (and I'm guessing rebounding hasn't been their strong suit on previous teams). This puts more pressure on Smith, Bickle, Egbo to secure rebounds, and hope the guards grab a few, too. And today, those guards will have all they can handle to defend the arc and mid-range jumpers.
I choose optimism today, look for Baylor's inside presence to tip the scales in the Bears' favor.

Much like the 49ers last night, IowaSt does nothing for 90%+ of the game, scores most of their points in the last 30 seconds of the quarter and takes the lead at the end of 1.

12 -13 iowa State - got to close out on the shooters
