I don't want to turn this into the Politics & Religion board, but any chance recent actions by the current administration might affect Deng?blueeyedbear said:Visa delay, Academic clearance delayBear2393 said:

From my understanding, international players are not eligible for NIL. Their head coach got fired and now is our associate head coach. Both Scott and Deng followed her to baylor
I saw her in 2-3 games last year. I love her game. She has a great deal of enthusiasm, energy and confidence!Polarbear said:
It seems like so many international players have their own pace of play, and refuse to be sped up. Think of Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Dirk Nowitzki. They don't get it done with their speed and athleticism, so much as their skill, footwork, and craftiness.
Deng appears to have some of that in her game. She is able to create space for shots with with excellent footwork and body control. Her drives to the hoop aren't out of control races, but rather purposeful and strategic, and she appears to be reading the defense every step of the way.
We just might have signed a star.

I think foreign plays are able to get NIL from their home country.Brian Ethridge said:Wbbfan29 said:

There are loopholes.

She can have NIL's from her home country and any other foreign country, just not in the US due to F1 Visa. Congress/Senate have not passed any laws that changes this. It's US Immigration laws, not Ncaa rules. She could make $$ for her tshirts/jerseys at Baylor.
This was my understanding, as well, but AP posted an article on NIL ruining European leagues because, if I understand it correctly, Euroleagues get money when NBA drafts their players, as the league has to buy their contracts, and that money helps support the Euroteams's budgets. But the article seems to imply that now, the massive NIL deals being offered (at least to the men), are incentivizing the European players to bypass the elite level leagues in favor of playing in US for NIL $$, thus negatively impacting overseas team's budgets.BearTiger said:

Top schools simply set up an offshore NIL payer. The earnings are not made in the USA, not paid in the USA, and are tied to activities outside the USA. Problem solved.
