Game in 2 days. Back home, girls sleeping in their own bed. We really need a clear and decisive win. Against Davidson, we had no passion in our eyes, no wisdom in our defense, no selectively in our fouls. Just sleepy street ball.
Hoping this is the first game wherein we play as a team. Help-side defense, balanced scoring, careful passes, enthusiastic bench, passionate coaching, high bball IQ in fouls (no tapping 3 point shooter, no plowing over opponents when you have 4 fouls), three point shooting above 35 %, and making 80 percent of free throws. Actually, just making free throws Would have us undefeated right now.
This is a great group of players and a knowledgeable coaching staff. This team has the capability of getting better each week. Deng appeared lost, but now could play as 6th player of year candidate. Buggs and Fontleroy have the opportunity to step up as seniors and take control. Scott has no ceiling and could easily throttle back passion mistakes wout losing her passion, KJ has no idea how good she could be with a little more confidence. KA has shown great improvement and just needs to know when to jump and when to stay on her feet, JVG is lukewarm shooting and not fully recovered, but offers wisdom and pace setting skills. Nelms is strong and smart, just needs to play bigger than 6'1" by making adjustments on defense and positioning on offense. The second team has flashes of execution and a high upside. I think coach can rotate them in more with large leads and watch them grow. Bottom line. The ceiling is high if we will stop seating ourselves on the floor.
