Alright, TCU did their part to make the matchup in 2 weeks for all the marbles.
We gotta do our part now and take care of Tech on Wednesday.
If we leave Lubbock with a W, and hold serve at home in the following 2 games, we'll get a chance to atone for Thursday's dreadful performance.
I don't really expect a win in Ft. Worth. TCU just has better talent than do we. Miles will either kill you with 3s if you don't guard her closely outside (even to midcourt in some cases) and then when you do, she blows by you for her seeming 5 foot layup. I saw her doing both against WVU. She does have a FEW games where she is a little off, but those are rare and then she has games like against us and WVU where you think where she is off and then has explosive 2nd halves. She is as good of a player as we have played the last several years.
So If you match up Scott vs. Miles, the advantage has to go to Miles and it might not be close. Then you have the threesome of Hunter, Silva and Suarez. I don't think you can put together any three off of our roster after taking out Scott that can match their production. We will have to shoot lights-out and then it still might not be enough.
I have watched TCU a lot this season on TV. They seem to take nights off when it seems they might be playing someone they perceive as below them. I doubt the coach looks at that way, but I suspect the players, especially from the body language I see from Miles and Suarez (or Silva, whoever we gave the black eye to) that they are just giving the opponent the privilege of being on the court with them and are not focused enough. I think that explains their losses to Colorado and Utah...and perhaps Tech.
But if they play a team they think will challenge them, even remotely, they are lasered focus and play to their ultimate best. Perhaps last night they (players, not coach) felt that WVU was not going to be a challenge. Then when they did at halftime, they put their focus back on. If they have their focus, I just don't see how we beat them. I think the talent level is just too much and I have yet to see them play a bad game when they have that focus.
Whether we leave Lubbock with a W or a L, with the WVU loss last night, winning our home games would still set up a game with TCU to decide if we can tie for 1st or not. TCU still has to play ISU, but which TCU team will show up.
Who knows how the talent levels will line up next year. I am afraid that with Tech being mostly seniors, the money bags will be opened for them as they did with their football team. I'm sure TCU will load up again. Can we compete on a level playing field unless we can write the checks that have to be written?
